I seriously doubt the slum-dwelling Brazilian gang member would be wearing a $500 pair of boots. Or a $100 watch. Or a $150 pair of sunglasses. Or a $100 backpack. Or a $170 pair of pants. Or hell, even a $10 bandanna. And the Brazilian soccer jersey was probably a $5 knockoff he bought from a street vendor.

Also, wearing a tactical vest and a ski mask on the streets seems like a good way to draw attention from the police.
Well you know the Militia seem pretty well-armed what with the attack helicopters, millitary grade assault rifles, predator missiles you'd think they could shell out some money for expensive boots.

I thought it was John Price, not John MacTavish. And wasn't 'Wolverines!' set in West Virginia? And aren't those Spetsnaz soldiers?

Play the game prior to offering overpriced goods pertaining to it.
No Wolverines was set in Northern Virgina, my home town according to the CoD wiki though I'm guessing that was just added by a fan who comes from here, but yeah "Northeastern Virginia" is the setting in-game not Brazil

I agree with the complaints about the price tag. And noone should ever wear this in public. But who out there could honestly say that they would want to dress up in full snow equitment to go airsofting (or paintballing if thats your thing) out in a snowstorm. It would be awsome, and cold, but the awsomeness would even it out.
ditto

How in the world does a tactical vest (About $70) cost only twice as much as a yarn beanie (Over $30)? Don't answer that, I don't care anymore.
They do because the well made ones(i've worn some of the cheap ones worn and worn a $150 one(thanks Blackhawk Tactical Gear) cost more and the quality is there. You can go down to the sporting goods/paintball store and buy a weekend wear "tactical" vest and it won't last as long as the professional brands.

Also those goggles that Cap. is wearing are Oakley A-Frames..confusing those with any lesser brand(especially build quality and ballistic protection) is just plain WRONG.

As someone who supports the purchase of and encourages Oakley over any other brand (I'm currently on my 6th pair of Oakley sunglasses) I can't condone this kind of shopping.

Well, let's not forget that we're dealing with what basically amounts to an urban "hip hop" style guide. To put things bluntly, I've seen that whole subculture embrace FAR stupider things, and the paramilitary rebel look has always been popular with certain segments. It's noteworthy for example that 50 Cent's "G-Unit" doesn't just have one meaning to it, and both Gangsta unit AND Gueriella unit are intended due to the whole urban gueriella thing and the implication of fighting against "the man". Then of course you have groups like "The Black Panthers" which have been increasing in their activities since the Obama election, ever since they were threatening people at the polls (which was on the news) they seem to have had an increased prescence and they very much do the "commando" thing. The popularity of Modern Warfare 2 in the mainstream makes this hardly a big surprise, even if it is a bit silly.

Speaking for myself though, I've always thought Marc Ecko was basically a dweeb. This is a guy who claims to embrace the hand to mouth urban rebel, producing games like "Getting Up" which was about Graffiti artists, but does so in order to pimp fashions that basically amount to paying a small fortune to look like someone who stepped out of a ghetto.

I suppose I do sort of understand the mentality to an extent, dressing like a bum while sporting thousands of dollars in jewlery in the ghetto being intended to be a statement about "keeping it real" and "get rich or die trying" (and often talked about), I suppose the "bum rags" costing a small fortune themselves can be seen as an extension of that for those who for whatever reason don't feel it's ridiculous.

Still, I ultimatly feel you can look like a cut rate paramilitary bravo, by hitting your local army surplus store. Oh granted, you won't be able to prove your not REALLY a bum for whatever reason by showing off your Marc Ecko approved labels... but honestly how many people are actually going to care unless you start talking about how you actually paid those prices.

... and honestly, I think the fact that anyone wants to look like ANY kind of third world criminal(from anywhere) kind of disturbing. I mean I would think the idea would be to grow beyond that id you had the means to. I mean frakk, for 800+ dollars you can get a pretty nice suit.
