After Wrath of the Lich King we're going to the Emerald Dream and the central continent called The Maelstrom. Jdging from patents and official revelas and interviews.

I think, if they were to end it, they'd have Sargearas, the creator of the Burning Legion, to come and destroy everything.
ah or the "hero's" setting out to beat him to pulp

I think it will end in a bloody mess with all the subscribers that have been playing it since the start commencing in mass suicide
I played since the start, I managed to quit last December though. Do I have to commit suicide?
no man, you don't, i also played from the start, and suicide is not an option :p

It will end after they have released their next crazy money sucking black hole (which May be World of Starcraft or maybe a Diablo MMO... just speculating). But as far as the story goes... maybe the whole WoW world will realize its lame and just go away or go all emo-style on its self.
I'm willing to bet £15 of my hard earned, finest English moneys that you don't know even half of the Warcraft story.

No, I'm married and have kids, if I knew even a quarter of the War Craft story I would never have accomplished those feats.
...and yet you're are reading a gaming forum, something isn't quite fitting here. Your total denial of being a gamer goes into question.
I know the whole story of warcraft, I have a girlfriend (3 years so far) I've graduated from college and I have a job,so what does that have to do with anything?.
Warcraft's story is like greek mythology (very much so) just with weirder creatures instead of humans.
...don't be a troll in the escapist forums

It will end, when the money starts to slowly start trickling out, they'll announce WOW 2 or WOS and then everything will be fine again for those woefully addicted deviants.

WoW development will eventually slow to a crawl or a complete stop, leaving only achievement chasers, pvpers and RPers to stick around while the majority of the playerbase moves on to WoStarcraft.

Servers/Realms will be consolidated and the list will shrink over time, until one day, likely many many years from now, some re-org or company merger will result in some new execs turning off the lights. The now small community will cry bloody murder, but nobody will care.
This. Also acceptable: taking it out back behind the wood shed with a shotgun ala Lassie. That way there'd be a bang AND a whimper!

But in all seriousness, I don't see WoW dying in one epic finale, unless they do it themselves. I tend to think that Aion and SW:TOR will take some nice chunks out of the playerbase, as will Diablo 3 when it rears its ugly head and spreads chaos and destruction. Then when Blizzard releases the so called "secret project" MMO that they've been supposedly working on, that'll probably be what kicks the now weakened WoW down a flight of stairs. Mostly because you'll have the diehard Blizzard fans who'll switch simply because ZOMG BLIZZARD DID IT, who won't bother to actually research if it's any good and just go out of blind faith.

The dungeon monsters/raid monsters and bosses will come out of there instances and taking over the World...of warcraft. The battle will last 3days and on the last day the leaders of all the citys will fight beside you taking on the 3 endgame raid bosses from each expansion(or more if they release more expansions) and if you defeat them a cinematic will come up on your screen saying you have saved azeroth from any trouble and the alliance and horde have now joined forces and they all lived in peace BUT if you lose a cinematic will show up saying the bla bla bla have taken over the land and the alliance and horde have now been wiped out with only a few to survive, but they will not last. Then your realm is shut down:)

WoW has already ended, and what we see now is how it ends - lots of people with idle subscriptions sitting around with their max-level characters and waiting for the next expansion or a better game to take its place.

WoW will end with ten million pasty nerds seeing the sunlight for the first time in years and bursting into flame due to how unadjusted to the sun they are.

WoW will end NOTHING! Clear ? WoW is a MMO and has and WILL never have anything to do with the story of Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 + Frozen throne. I am WAITING for Warcraft 4 (And OH YES! It WILL be released, like it or not) and then we will all find out.

WoW has NOTHING to do with the story and I don't care how it ends - because it CAN'T end

OMG someone else gets it!
Now i can die happy.

I don't think the OP suggested how it would end in regards to the Warcraft storyline. Just how it would end.

In my opinion WoW is going to start dying when 3.2 drops , once all the challenge is taken out what will be left is a shallow husk of what it used to be. Aion and Warhammer dont look too bad but when The Old Republic drops I'll be moving to the land of lightsabers, lazers, and disgustingly cute things.
