If my family gets me a huge service, then they are inconsiderate dickwads. They have specific instructions to not waste thousands of dollars on bullshit like a funeral. If they feel the need to waste money, I've told them to buy a speed boat or something instead, since at least that would serve SOME purpose.

As for my body, I want absolutely anything/everything to go towards helping people, or to science, or to both. Fuck, if I could donate every last drop of blood as I took my last breath, I would.

There is no reason for anyone else to not do the same in this day and age, and I consider it a moral imperative to donate all of your organs and tissues. If you don't, you're either uneducated, or an asshole, or both.

Anyway, when I die I don't want to be embalmed, I want to just be put in a coffin with holes drilled in the bottom, I want my funeral to take place a month after my death and in that time I want my body stored somewhere really hot. Then on the day of my funeral, I want all the people I can't stand to carry my coffin as the rotting body fluids slush out of the holes in the bottom of the coffin, covering them in me, I get the smug satisfaction of getting the last laugh on them.

When I die, my body will be assessed for its suitability to be used as a medical teaching specimen. If my corpse is deemed good enough, then the university will get it and do whatever it wants with it for a period of 3 years, then they'll dispose of my corpse however my will or remaining family wants.

Which is this: Put me in the ground, no coffin (or a very cheap paper box coffin) or burn me up. If I'm dead, I don't care what you do with my corpse. I'm dead. I don't exist any longer. Why do I care what happens to the pile of (now dead) cells and minerals and fats and protein that was once me? The purpose of my body is to keep me alive - if I'm dead, then it no longer has a purpose.

You are not your corpse. A corpse is merely the empty shell of a person - a corpse WAS a person, but is no longer. Do whatever you want with mine, as long as it either 1) Serves a useful function (like being on display in a medical school) and or 2) Doesn't inconvenience people or cost a lot of money. No fancy funerals for me - when I die, my friends and family can stay home and merely remember me (if they want).

Burn my corpse up, put it in the sea, put it in the ground for the worms and plants - I don't care. And when I'm dead I CAN'T CARE.

Hopefully, the circumstances leading to my death will result in my saving someone's life, so I'd either like to continue that trend in death, or at least save someone after I'm gone.
