Oh yea, I have a gamestation too, I see why they are shutting down some, they are bloody pointless.Jonny49 said:We have two GAME stores here too. God knows why, they're literally within the same street not to mention one is right next to a Gamestation store.ultimateownage said:Well, I have 2 games here so I should be fine, I hope they shut down the crappy small one, not the nice one in the oracle though.
Cooool, an Escapist lives near me. As for the OP, it always confused me that wherever I see a GAME store, there's a Gamestation within 200 yeards, yet they're owned by the same company. Sounds like a wise move to me.ultimateownage said:Well, I have 2 games here so I should be fine, I hope they shut down the crappy small one, not the nice one in the oracle though.
Didn't they buy out EB Games? Or buy out there UK stores?Trivun said:Here in Leeds, there are no fewer than four GAME stores in the city centre alone. There's only one CEX, one HMV, and one Gamestation.
I think downsizing in cases like this would be a pretty wise move. One store, two at most, is enough to cater for a single city centre. More than that, and the company is just wasting money...
Simalacrum lives near us too, I think the reason they have game and gamestation, is for 2 different demographics, gamestation for the hardcores who like more "local." stores, and GAME is for more casual gamers, with a more company feel to it.Samuel Cook said:Cooool, an Escapist lives near me. You sir, live in Brighton, where there are two GAMES and a Gamestation all within spitting distance of each other, so one will probably not be missed.dark707 said:You sir live in Reading.
My city has two as well, I hope they shut down the one in Churchill Square (Guess where I live)
Good to see it's not just the locals that think this.kelvingreen said:You sir, live in Brighton, where there are two GAMES and a Gamestation all within spitting distance of each other, so one will probably not be missed.dark707 said:You sir live in Reading.

Not that I will miss them much anyway. I stopped shopping there when I realised they were routinely adding £2 or £3 to the RRP.
Agreed. The only time I go to GAME is if I happen to want a game REALLY badly and don't want to wait 2 days for delivery AND the game is being sold at the same price as online. Which isn't often.RetroVortex said:I gave up on GAME, as soon as I had a paypal account and a visa electron.
It is so much cheaper to buy games from online retailers.
GAME only really survive on the ignorant, and the deprived.
Absolutely no idea . I only came to Leeds about two years ago for university, I'm from near Birmingham originally and I've never seen an EB Games store anywhere in the UK. Unless EB were bought out before I came North, it's always been four GAME stores...Baron Khaine said:Didn't they buy out EB Games? Cos I know here in Sheffield, we had an EB Games and a Game right across from each other, then GAME bought the EB Games store and they had 2 right accross from each other, which I alway's thought was wierd.
