Well. As long as they make sure that somewhere, a new FF cast comes into it, I won't mind. I can't say Captain Stars and Stripes is my favourite hero, but I've always admired the fact that they never try to hide his overly-American persona.

Although, I think we need a ridiculously English (note: not stereotypically British) introduced into Marvel world just to mix it up a little.

I don't know, the guy just doesn't look right.

Plus, Captain America's a very tricky superhero to pull off and who knows how good the writers will be. Superhero movies have been pretty hit-and-miss in the past with Cap having three misses to his name (the 1970s Captain America movies (yes, two of them) and the 1990 movie).

How about...

CAPTAIN BRITAIN! [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Britain]

...Yeah, he sucks almost as much as Captain America. Except when it was Psylocke as Captain Britain. Then she was badass.

Yeah, I would have mentioned him, but as I said: he's too "British". I think his backstory even involved Merlin and a magic sword in olde England or something.

Ahh, I thought you meant stereotypically British like "Tea Man" or something.

For what it's worth, Psylocke is also British, and she's not massively stereotypical, being more of a telepath/telekinetic mix?

Also, not Marvel, but we get Detective-Judge Armitage [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detective-Judge_Armitage], who is actually more badass than any ten Marvel heroes.

The Fantastic Four movies were bad because they were extremely poorly written, and Reed + Richards were horribly cast (Richards especially). But I think that Evans played Johnny Storm perfectly, and so did Chiklis as The Thing, everything else about the film sucked.

I'm for it, personally.

Actors playing two different super heroes isn't exactly new news (eg: Ryan Reynolds Deadpool/Green Lantern.

I had heard that they were going to use the guy who played Leo in the TV show Charmed at one point and I suppose I would be ok with that.

This guy just doesn't capture the proper Cap look, but I know that these actors never sound right until you actually see them in action so I won't judge. I'm really not optimistic about this movie for anything other than Hugo Weaving, the musical numbers sound just terrible, but this Chris Evans guy could surprise us all.

Another thing, I've noticed some people saying that Cap is supposed to be in his 30's or so, but I'd like to point out that this movie is supposed to be set in WW2 and when Cap first received his powers he was really young, like in his early 20's. It's only in the current Marvel Universe that he's older, since he's always thawed roughly ten years ago. (What with the floating timeline.)

Also please stop suggesting Will Smith, I know some of you are joking and Will Smith is really popular, but as far as I know, Isaiah Bradley (The black Cap who most of you seem to be thinking of.) was only given his powers after Steven Rogers had been subjected to the Super Soldier Serum, the serum had been lost and the government was trying to replicate the process on African-American test subjects. So to sum it up, the original Captain America was Steven Rogers and he was the first successful test subject, Captain African-American was a later subject. Original Cap is Steven Rogers and he is the ironically Aryan, blond haired, blue eyed, Caucasian man fighting against the racist Nazis.
I know I've gone on for a really long time on the whole Will Smith thing, but it really, really annoys me.

NO, I don't like him as an actor and I think he would fail as captain America.

I keep saying it (Admittedly in jest) but seriously, just cast Will Smith as Captain America and everything will be fine.

@(#*@&%ing @*#&it! Every time I hear someone say this it make me WANT TO DIE. If this happend I would kill myself. Hearing this sentence causes this feeling of nails being dragged in my skull.

And when you say* "No." they just say that your racist. And that too makes me WANT TO DIE.

*Shout until your lungs bleed.
Will Smith would make a terrible Captain. Samuel L. Jackson would be much better.

The weird thing is, this thread has taught me that there is actually a full fledge 'thing' about Will Smith playing Captain America as a joke...

I had no idea, I just thought it'd be interesting to see him put a Wild Wild West spin on the idea.

Like I said Will Smith, in jest would be at the lest an interesting choice for Captain America, I'd watch that film. especially if they convinced Will Smith to do a song for it.

Call me stupid or immature or whatever but I'd honestly love to hear a song with the openning lyrics.

"A-whicky-wa a-whicky-whicky-WORLD WAR 2!"

Will Smith purely for the purposes of Satire would be my ideal Captain America.

But as for who I'd get to play him in a serious, true to the source Captain America film?

I have no idea...

It sure as hell wouldn't be the human torch though...

He's a hell of a lot better than most of the other rumored actors to play Captain America, not the best choice but I'll take what I can get after they scared me with John Krasinski and Chad McMurray.

Oh and no I don't want a Black Captain America (I am not racist) but keep with the originality of the comics please, If people want Will Smith so bad have him play Battlestar.

Agreed. Anything you cast Will Smith turns out at least watchable...well, except Wild West...

I'm not sure why people get so worked up about the idea. Nick Fury was a white guy not so long ago you know. What with the Ultimates comics and the Samuel Jackson cameo in Iron Man white Nick Fury has been nearly rendered obsolete.
