Hm, this actually looks pretty interesting. That new blue scarf actually looks pretty good on link.

One thing that I noticed all through out the trailer was that scarf Link has and that I think it looks really cool for some reason.

It's a reference to Zhao Yun's outfit

Is this something people want? I guess ANY game is welcomed on the WiiU at this point, but this just seems like a REALLY strange type of Zelda game.

Because they aren't done yet? I mean, really now, they don't even have an official title for it. Hyrule Warriors is simply a placement name. I would think a gaming heavy website such as Esscapist can tell the difference between a game coming out in two months, and a game that's probably going to go through another 10 months of development time.

Absolutely can't wait for this but...I have no idea what exactly will be covered here...the demo looked like it took place in the Skyward Swords era...but that doesn't necessarily stick the game there...it would be neat to travel between each era as each Link (though that would be kind of a cop-out only being able to play as different flavors of Link exclusively). I assume this will be a game that lets you play as Gannon though so there's that and, if you play through different time-lines than maybe other characters like Ghirahim, Aghanim (Link to the Past), Shiek...

This game is so stupid an idea, but I love it and want it!

Also maybe this means the Wii U will get future DW love? Would be nice to get DW8XL and SW4...then I wont be forced to get a PS4.

Damn, this looks all kinds of awesome. Hope there are other characters to play in this other than Link. Would be cool to see a more battle capable Zelda without having to be another personality.

Just get a Dinasty Warrior game instead as they are all the same and its a lot cheaper, you can even get them with robots, anime characters or just a bunch of vanilla chinese dudes and dudettes.

Not really, there's massive changes in the gameplay systems and basic game structure in every release (except for Empires and Xtreme Legends spin-offs).

I'm defineately interested in this, Koei Tecmo makes some solid titles and i like Zelda, so it could be interesting to see how this turns out. The WiiU library is starting to look pretty decent.

Technically Nintendo isn't developing it, which I'm seeing a lot of people thinking that they are. Tecmo Koei are the ones that are making the game, Nintendo is just letting them use the Legend of Zelda IP. Nintendo will probably oversee certain things and give okays or nays about certain things they can and can't do, but really that's about it.

If Nintendo gives Tecmo Koei some leeway then the game will turn out just fine. This isn't the first game that Tecmo Koei has made using a popular franchise.
A more recent example would be the One Piece Pirate Warrior game series exclusive on the PS3. I'm a huge One Piece fan, I'm an Admin of this site's One Piece group, and while the game is a bit QTE happy, the combat, characters, and stories are true to everything about One Piece.

Hey hey, this is close to what I've been wanting from Zelda for a while now. Just a motherfuckin fast-paced hack and slash good time in Hyrule. Though it's a major step in a different direction, it's a welcome one (even if it is just a spin-off).

Above all, it just looks like good fun. Not a Zelda game in the traditional sense, but still. I'll be very interested in seeing how this game pans out.

OT: Well, then... As usual, a gaming mashup that peaks my interest more than it's temporary placement title... I LOVE IT... (I wonder if this will go in the way of Orochi or Gundam[footnote]since I'm already thinking of the both crossover and the hopeful sequel to come from this...[/footnote]...)

I'm kinda iffy about the way the models looked in that trailer. It looks like they just lifted them straight out of previous games in the series and gave them a slight HD touchup. The only characters with unique models are Link and the Hylian knights running around. I hope they give them all unique models before this game is released.

They should also make sure to include more characters besides Link. Having the chance to blow away dudes with Zelda's magic or rampage through Hylian knights as Ganondorf cannot be missed.

Looks awesome. Kudos to Koei/ Tecmo-Koei for getting the shot at it.

I just hope link isn't the only playable character. Koei's pretty good about scraping together a sizable cast.

That is exactly where my mental process went. What? A Dynasty Warriors' knock off cash grab? That's crazy. Then I considered the fact that Dynasty Warriors is incredibly carthartic and fun and why not get to play as a character I know and love.

I wonder how they'll add value to the game though. Dynasty Warriors has a large list of characters with various backstories and fighting styles to switch things up so I wonder how one character, even Link, can pull this off?

I seriously doubt there will only be one character. Zelda has a great roster of characters to pull from and since their fighting styles are not well defined they can be basically anything.
