Well I'm excited for it, regardless of their faith in the title. Since it's on PSN, I'll definitely be buying it, I've been casually following this pretty much since it was announced.

Damn post-apocalyptic junkie I am.

Wow, I had forgot about this. I'll have to see if it's worth it when I get a new Ps3 (and the game comes out, lol)

I saw this game few days ago in a gaming magazine. It was labeled like a possible launch for this year. Glad to see they decided to come through with it,even if it's not confirmed for PC. As for Ubisoft, well those were the same guys that thought that draconic DRM was a good idea,so....

the survival action game Ubisoft first announced back in 2008, will finally come out this year but will only be released digitally because the publisher "doesn't have much faith in the title."
Translation: We don't think it has enough appeal for a sequel and make us mountains of money like Assassin's Creed.

The game certainly looks interesting.

Hey Ubi, if you don't have faith in it, the PC is the best platform to release it on, as you have so little faith in it either.

Well... generally I find this to have more positives.

I Am Alive is and always has been, a risk title.
Obviously they're concerned that it won't sell at all, so now they've stuck it in digital download on the likes of XBLA and PSN.

That means there will be a built in demo (definitely on XBLA at least) where they may not have been one, the price will be much lower (XBLA never seem to retail for more than £10/1200msp anymore) and I believe it will reach a wider audience.

I know I'll definitely try it out, hopefully it'll be worth mine and others msp and Ubisoft will realise that it's definitely worth their investment.

I've read the translated version on the website, and I'm pretty sure the lack of faith is speculation on the websites part, and that just hasn't come across; no publisher in a million years would say they don't have much faith in a title, even if that's what their actions say.

Please please please make it to the PC. I couldn't care less about the digital release, I was going to get it off Steam (provided Steam will sell it) anyway.

Wikipedia said:
The player controls Adam in a first person perspective. The player can use various tactics to stay alive, including using an empty gun to threaten enemies, finding food and water around the city in order to keep Adam alive and healthy and use of actual live weapons, including pistols, machine guns, and grenades if found. The player can also drive abandoned vehicles, driving the vehicles will be in the traditional third-person view, and running or walking can be toggled between first and third person.
It sounds so awesome.

Publishers only want sequels or tried-and-true game concepts anyway, so I don't care what Ubi thinks.

I just want a Steam or GoG release, or something.

A GoG release? Maybe in a good few years...

Besides based off other comments from here, and other sites it appears this news post is very mis-leading and The Escapist, willfully or otherwise, is mis-quoting what was said...

Eh, I noticed The Witcher 2 got a GoG release scheduled, so I figured "why not?"

And, yeah, I read about the misquoting after I made my post. A shame that these things happen still.

Well GoG is owned by CD Projekt [the studio that produced The Witcher], it's not usually a platform for new releases.

You learn something new every day, I guess. I've just been too lazy to look it up earlier.

Well I think Ubisoft's clairvoyance will turn out correct...it will not run very good, because they decided to only publish it digitally...I would have bought it, if it was published in a box, but I don't buy digital...

I'm quite relieved that it's at least getting some release. Almost every "survival-action" game has some kind of sci-fi or overt horror element to it (Dead Space, Allen Wake, Resident Evil, hell even the Half Life series), but it looks like this is the first time that a survival game will just focus on the horrors that humans can create all by themselves.

I think they lack faith in SALES of the game...rather than the game itself.

Digital is smart business practice to take with iffy titles.
