Or at least they do in Britain, PC games in my area retail for about £30 new.
Downsides are you have to worry about system requirements, DRM and the thing possibly dying for no reason. But these are just an avid PC watchers observations of hanging out with a PC gamer for 7 years or so.
im a pc gamer in of 9 years now, my PC has always been my primary choice for internet surfing, gaming, speaking with my friends over skype/ventrilo/teamspeak/mumble, i use it for video editing, music, modding of pc games, watching movies, downloading movies/music, getting latest news on games and movies, watching different TV series... can a console do all that ? ^^
but i still own a PS3/PS2 for the games that didnt get on PC, God of War, Uncharted and so on... also because i wanted a Bluray/PS3
but my PC is a high-end gaming rig, and just got a new gfx card 2 weeks ago so i got ready for Total War: Shogun 2 and Crysis 2.. tho waiting on the bloody DX11 patch grrr..., but last time i upgraded my PC's GFX card was 3-4 years ago so its not so bad, most of you people just need a job
but i dont hate console players because they play on console, just what ive experienced is that most ive met is they have a huge hate for PC players, but its always like that i reckon. i just like my PC more because i can do so much more on it compared to my PS3. and i can write a REALLY long detailed list what the PS3 cant do compared to a PC
also, in my country atleast PC games are cheaper than console games... actually with a huge difference
aaand STEAM...oh i hate that thing... made me buy 4 splinter cell games in a package for 27? (Chaos theory, Concivtion, Double Agent, and the first SP game)... 120 games on my steam list so far..
