So yesterday I woke up with an annoying ringing in my left ear that would not go away. It stopped me from sleeping and caused me to have my first ever real panic attack as after looking on the internet I was convinced that it may be permanent. After seeing the doctor they assured me that it was just because I had a head-cold and that it should cease within the next month and could take up to six months to truly disappear. This is probably the scariest thing that's ever happened to me, at least in how I personally reacted to it. Have any of you folks had any similar experiences, Anything that truly scared the shit out of you like this. ITS STORY TIME :D

Story 1: I had severe stomach pain for a good month or so, which kept me from school for about half the time, while the rest I could barely focus.

In the last week of the month, I lost 12 lbs in 3 days, so we figured it was finally time to take me to the hospital (yeah, my parents decided then was the time, not the previous 3-4 weeks).

I wound up staying there a week, underwent a bunch of tests and got told I have Crohn's. So I had some relatively aggressive treatment to bring it down, and now I still have to go in for treatment every 8 weeks.

Story 2: My rabbit scratched my wrist. I played soccer that day, and was put in goalie. The goalie gloves were communal. I wound up getting an infection for which the disease specialist of the province was brought in to take a look at. My mother still swears that it was flesh eating disease. I'm unsure, but w/e. It was scary. Apparently I could've lost my arm.

I got Bell's Paulsey back in February 2011. Partial Paralysis Of the face. Not fun. Spent a month slurring like a drunk and drooling like a dog. Had to manually close my right eye to keep it wet. What opened me up to this kind of ailment? Mono. I didn't get it the fun way, either. That was painful as fuck. I couldn't eat for a week, and I couldn't sleep for longer. The worst part is that some of the meds only made things worse.

Oh, and I have kidney stones. Those formed because I drank WAY too much soda as a kid. So kids, if you want to know pain that many will say is worse than giving birth, drink all of the soda in the world. If you're not a masochist and don't want to risk addiction to Oxycontin, limit your soda drinking, for your own sake.

For the last 6 months I have had extremely bad heat related dermatitis and allergies to things I didn't even know existed, yet came into contact with. For the first 3 months it looked like I had burns on my hands, like I had stuck them into a fryer.

Had to wear cotton gloves everywhere, and was on anti-biotics because of all the broken skin, which could have given me an infection, which I did get a few times. Even having a shower or picking something up was painful, and usually ended in my hands bleeding.

Was a fun few months.

Only other one I can think of besides that is tendinitis, which I had in year 12, at the old ripe age of 17.

Fun times.

Not really an illness but it is terrifying, I have Exploding head syndrome [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome]. Occasionally, (one or 2 times a month) just as I am falling asleep, I hear a loud bang that jolts me awake and gets the adrenaline running making it hard to get back to sleep. Lately it has been more in the form of screeches than bangs and not as loud and jarring. I've had it since childhood but only recently have I been able to put a name to it.

I had skin cancer a few years ago, right up until they carved it out of my back. Which hurt. A lot. Especially because the anesthetic started to wear off about halfway through the cutting, and was completely gone by the time the stitches went in.

Astma, Rheumatoid Arthritis and luxating patellas.

Astma's nothing serious, only had one astma attack in my life and that was a bit over 10 years ago. RA on the other hand is a tad more annoying. I've been treated weekly with an injection for the past 5-7 years, been injecting myself for the past 3 months.

But the main issue has been the knees. They just wont stay still. Very often, while simply walking, especially on winter thanks to snow/ice, my knees decide to dislocate on their own. I can dislocate myself too by trying to straighten my legs. Been through 3 operations, none of them worked, have been attending physiotherapy weekly for the past 5 years, hasn't helped either. So I'm going for my 4th operation next year.

Oh well, it could always be worse :p

Occasionally I'll break out into sebaceous cysts like other people break into spots. It's irritating, painful and sometimes requires an operation to get rid of.

Eeeew.

I have a very light case of Psoriasis. its still at the red splotchy stage with light silvery scales just starting to occasionally form. but it kinda comes and goes.

other then that, i ahve what was told me as "nervous stomach" which before that was 6-8 months of being lead to believe it was a stomach ulcer. so I guess basically my stomach doesnt handle caffeine and certain foods well and I get sick to the point of throwing up and severe stomach pains that make it a ***** to sleep and usually keeps me up all night to the point where i jsut fall asleep crouched over like a ball in odd positions that only feel comfortable in those situations.

I suffer from aspergers which I really thought was a plus until the whole gunman killing 20 kids came up, yeah he suffered from aspergers too. I didn't realize loss of emotional control could be so damaging.

---

I also had a stomach bleeding issue. Once again another thing I thought wasn't that big of a deal till I started throwing up blood like the exorcists. By the time I got to the hospital I had lost half the blood in my body and was going into shock... from stomach bleeding. I mean talk about a lame way to die when your only 26.

I don't really have any serious. Flat feet, temporomandibular jaw disorder, I suffer headaches though and on the rare occasion a migraine if I don't deal with the stabby left side eyes achey headache quick enough. Hate those headaches, tablets don't dent them and they go on all day. I get them twice or three times a week. Makes me snappy and irritable and stops me from playing League of Legends.

A Hermit's Cave
A few...

Though I have mild tinnitus... insomuch that anything remotely loud = static. Applause is the worst because I can't tell the difference, and I continue to hear static for several moments after. Thankfully, as I say, it's mild, never had it last longer than a short while (i.e. a few minutes) afterwards... but I still can't go to concerts that much, only baroque ones, because applause tends to be very genteel. -_- Got it because of several ear infections when I was a kid, scary when there's yellow liquid leaking out of your ears. *brrr*

Also, colour blind and partially deaf (unsurprisingly), but they're not really illnesses, so... eh...
