Oh...by the way...Not really safe for work. No nudity...but lots of girls making out.

Axe is apparently too expensive to produce relative to the advertising they can get for the show:

(This link leads to the same place as above but with a NSFW warning)

I think it's incredibly lame that The Escapist didn't tell us Axe was cancelled. I commend them for having a show that isn't about electronic gaming on a primarily electronic gaming site, but still. A heads up would have been appreciated.

Oh, well. As long as there are still going to be episodes somewhere on the interwebs, I'm happy.

Well this sucks, and here I was thinking they were just taking a week off. Oh well, video says they're working to move the episodes somewhere else so at least it'll be coming back eventually.

Oh--major bummer! I hope they find somewhere to do the shows. Though, if it's not making money here, then that may be a problem anywhere. Not too many people want to spend all their money entertaining a bunch of strangers.

Wishing you all luck in getting the show on somewhere, and also, regardless, thanks so much for the fun and I wish you all the best!

Oh that is a feka. I was really enjoying axe. I understand if it's not making the money why they had to. Just a real shame.

Sorry to see such a show vanish into the either.
It doubly upsets me because of the excuse why since tabletops are the ones that got me into electronic gaming. Also, everyone I game with goes out of their way to not miss their D&D, Werewolf, Mage, GERPS, or what-ever-new-system-was-just-found-in-a-bargain-bin sessions and spend the most on the titles that are advertised here (honestly, in an 8 man house where 6 of us tabletoped there were 5 WoW accounts, 3 XBoxes, 2 PS3s, 2 PS2s, and a Wii).

If The Escapist can keep a show about movies and a guy ranting about what ever crosses his mind, they can keep one about D&D.

That was very funny Zak, its never occurred to me that a village could be a random encounter all on its on. There are so many things that could go wrong. From the racist Innkeeper who "we dun serve your kin aroun'ere" to the suspicious local law who wants to know just who these armed and armored travelers who have blown into his sleepy little hamlet really are.
The possibilities for misunderstanding and misadventure is full of potential hilarity, for the DM that is :D

Noooo! Why didn't they announce this? I was at least expecting bold headlines saying "No more IHWMA!" woe, my weekly viewing of fun stuff has diminished.

Out of curiosity how do they make money off the shows? I never notice product placement or anything. Game reviews sway my decision in buying games, but that doesn't get the reviewer money.

Adverts, and they announced it on their Facebook and blogs.

ha ha, also, I was scrolling around a bunch and just quoted the first thing I saw that said "Granite city" Didn't realize that there were 3 whole different people who mentioned Granite City in the thread. GC, IL is officially poppin!
Poppin? I don't know if I'd go that far. ;)

But it's amazing that three people watching have been to Granite.

^that

I'm stuck in a friggin hospital bed over here...which is admittedly the only reason I started watching it...but it still turned out to be one of the most entertaining web series I've found...
hope they find somewhere else to keep it going...

I know, right! When I heard they were both going...I thought...well, there go my main two reasons to visit the Escapist. I'll probably go back to being an occasional lurker again.

Losing the two makes me sad in that way I was after Ze Frank stopped making The Show.

I know it is a bit of a late reply, but I figured I may as well answer with the slight hope that you may see this.

A video on this site makes money based on the amount of advertisement that it can make. In Axe's case, it could not make enough to match production costs and end up being a financial loss.

That all said, the reason they didn't announce it may vary, but the most common reason I can think of, not enough people on the site care that it is gone and Zak's farewell video from the Escapist is a bit too sexual to display here. Doomsday Arcade had a massive farewell episode and the Escapist did everything in its power to make sure you knew that it was ending. Whats the difference? Doomsday Arcade was very very very popular and Axe wasn't.

ARE there still going to be episodes somewhere? because the escapist has definately handled this poorly. :( i was hoping they were just taking a break. oh real question here, where, if there are, will new episodes be?

Zak said that he'd have new stuff up at his blog. Apparently, he's got episodes produced and ready to go, but I haven't seen any.
