WHAT THE FUCK!???
There's no TENNIS!? I thought this game was entirely about TENNIS matches!! What is going on?? Why can't I have Cole go to a Tennis court and kick someone's ass in a tournament? WHY do they have to make it about mysteries and stuff? ARGH I am so annoyed!!

L.A. Noire may be my most anticipated game of all time (so far).

They don't like games like it.

They aren't in the majority or minority. They just have a different taste than us. I don't really get it either, but that's the point of people being different, isn't it?
This, this, this.

There is no majority or minority, pal. They have a different opinion from us, that's it. They should be allowed to complain, it's their business.

I'm also not sure if OP is hatin' on games like GTA or Saint's Row. Can't a person enjoy story-driven games AND mindless gameplay porn as well? :I

Though, personally, I'm very excited for LA Noire. Looks fawkin' SCHWEET.

I am a little sad that there won't be as much shooting as I'd like there to be. I've always preferred a game with a stronger focus on gameplay rather than on story, but whatevah. I'm a huge fan of film noir, and this game seems to be taking a big page outta THAT book.

I actually like such a huge move away from the GTA formula on the part of Rockstar. Getting a game that lives and dies on the STORY and not on the gun play is a huge step forward and a huge risk for such a bid developer. No matter if the game sucks or the next coming of Christ I will forever respect them for this.

I'm not hating on any kind of game. I actually still play Just Cause 2 and the newest Red Faction. (Even though having to fight 20 enemies that can take three shotgun blasts to the face at point blank every time I want to destroy a couple gas tanks is getting bothersome...)

People always piss and moan, it's not just about violent video games, either.
Don't get worried about it, the game will be good regardless.

I think of LA noire as smiler to Heavy rain. that didnt have explosions everytime i couldnt even choose the punch a women in the chops all the time (a few times yes). But i enjoyed the story i was told and more so my own personal story i got.

Espeaicly with moments like this "i am a younge women in a doctors house i feel like he is trying to drug me. find what i need and leave. look around. oh no its takeing too long. ill leave....gets to the door....maby one last look BONK! on the head! i knew i should have left!"

OR i get the father locked up and so it falls ont he fbi agent, My friend got the father to this point were a chain and padlock needs to be broken off. He spent 3mins panicing and looking and found a bar to break it off. I was the fbi agent. my friend said "oh i had to look around and panic for stuff" i whip out a gun a boom. locks off, he cursed me.

But LA noir i look forward to "oh i couldnt do that crime. i got the wrong person." or "i know it was that guy i just didnt find the right evidence for it too stick!!" aswell as "oh yeah that guy. he is lying. i can tell!"

lol wow just learnt that this game isnt free roam like gta...

i prefer games where i can CHOOSE how to act. i HATE being limited by things. in gta i could just get in my car and go and tear up the entire city which was very freeing.

in this im limited and have to follow a story? also whats with the investagation stuff? i dont want to be examining objects i want to be out there doing whatever i want. i think id fall asleep doing the 'investagation' stuff.

might not even rent this one ..... whose with me?

i hate how everyone is hating on other people for them wanting this to be free roam or to be able to kill whoever you want. There reply is always "if you want that go play gta 4" well maybe we want to do that in L.A. Noire? or maybe we want to be able to have that aspect of gta, but with a better created enviorment. look at the graphical changes from gta 4 to this..... its amazing.

From what I gather, not only has everyone turned into a murderous psychopath, but they aren't satisfied unless they're killing virtual avatars of other people, regardless of what kind of game it is. Is this...average, or are these people in the minority? I only took a few quotes, but there are many, many more that I could have used from that particular forum.

Is it so horrible to have a story driven game that isn't filled with explosions and mass murder? What happened during the time when online multiplayer didn't even exist?

Really, people confuse me.

That said, I'm really psyched for LA Noire.

Edit: I forgot the major point. Have people forgotten what immersion means?

I see absolutely no reason why they would allow Cole Phelps (You) to go out and murder anyone he feels like, especially considering that he's supposed to be the only (Or one of the few) uncorruptable and (Mostly)'by the book' officer in the department. Running around gunning old women down does not equal good police work!
They are the minority, I am looking forward to this game more than almost any other release this year.

It could use some form of replayability, not sure murdering is the right way, but OP and some others come off a bit too irritated. Of course, people complaining always come off that way to me.

Anyways, I wish Mafia 2 had multiplayer much more than L.A. Noire.
the campaign alone is 20 hours and 30 40 for squeezing extra missions and other tom foolery
Up to 30 hours would be great, but I doubt it.
You're talking about L.A. Noire though, right?

I would like a little sandbox type atmosphere to the game, such as stopping a mugging, but I want this game because I am excited about what they have promised. I loved books like The Big Sleep and The Maltese Falcon (and their film adaptations), so if this is a continuation in the same vein, I am looking forward to a good time.

5 years ago they announced this game for all 3 platforms and after 3 years in development they decided to make it console only and skip it on the the PC.

yes i am,
they claim 20 while just doing the basic core missions.
you get many side missions, replay ability to improve scores and other stuff so i was guessing 30ish

While I'm somewhat disappointed it won't be free roaming I'm still hoping for a good story and some unique investigation mechanics. It wouldn't make sense for a policeman to be going out shooting innocent people unless they make it like Wheelman and you can't kill civilians although that would really suck. My problem is that it'll be too easy. I heard it's impossible to fail the investigations which doesn't sit well with me.
You can fail investigations, but you can't fail the game.

As in, apparently even if you fail an investigation, there will still be a way to advance in the ranks, thus advancing in the game. So it isn't as though failing an investigation is an instant game over.

That's all I know, though. I have zero information on what the alternative methods of progressing through the game are.
That sounds much better. I read that on CVG although I really hope they're wrong.

This game isn't worth it.
It has no TENNIS.

(Wait, really? You can't draw your gun at will?)
Nope, you can only draw your gun when the game decides that you need it.

How would multiplayer even WORK in a game like this? Cops shooting down other cops would make no sense, and if one team was the "cops" and the other was "robbers", they would probably have to have different weapons sets and a whole ton of extra tomfoolery that would take development time and money away from the core of this project.

I actually really like how they're not trying to include everything plus the kitchen sink here, because focusing on the core concepts of a game and polishing them to a mirror sheen produces a far better project than trying to cram everything in to their time and budget. This new face capture technology is probably very expensive for R&D, so it makes sense that they'd focus on the story and investigation segments.

In short, I am looking forward to this game immensely, and as for the people who aren't, try this on for size: Every project a studio does, teaches them new things. Maybe the techniques they develop in L.A. Noire will make GTA5 even more fun. Just putting it out there.

I think the confusion here comes from the fact that a lot of people who know about the game don't know it's not by Rockstar, but Team Bondi. I had a hard time convincing somebody who has been folliwing the game for months that R* wasn't making it.
What annoys me most about this is that there has been very little gameplay shown, and nothing much said about how the free roam will actually work.
What makes me laugh is how loads of people really seem to hate GTA4, but want LA Noire to just be that in the 40's.
/Rant
Not true, it's being co-developed by Team Bondi and Rockstar. And Rockstar is publishing the game. I mean it has "Rockstar Games presents:" on the box...
I think that proves my point of how confusing it is, I have been follwing this game since its first announcement many years ago! I just thought R* were publishing, nothing else.
