Lol if this isn't trolling I will wipe my ass with a pine cone the hard way.

Sometimes it's acceptable, or even encouraged to enjoy something socially considered bad. This isn't one of those cases.

Better get wiping. I'll give you a moment to find one that isn't quite so pointy.
MLP:FiM is actually pretty good and I enjoy it. Not as much as I am making it appear in this thread, I don't LOVE THE SHIT out of it. It's just decent. Watchable. Of surprising good quality.

Seriously, you play videogames, the fucking demonmedia of our generation. Why do you give a flying fuck about what's socially acceptable.

I've certainly fallen to the charm of the show. I'm sure it would have a lot more followers if it wasn't called "My Little Pony", and just called something else.

To the people who are thinking that this show is shit, not worth even looking at, and that everyone is must be out of their minds for liking a stupid toy advertisement aimed at 4 year old girls: Basically everyone outside the show's target demographic that likes it thought the exact same thing (with varying degrees of hostility) before watching.

It's just kind of silly to bash on something just because of what it's called. Judging a book by it's cover and all that. It's a very closed minded way of thinking. I mean, of course not everyone will like it, but at the very least everyone that at least tries to watch it won't think it's insane, stupid, and utter garbage.

I don't actually care about any of that, I was just adding on bs to keep it from being a low content post. Like this one. Only not now because I added a bunch of discussing-looking filler onto the bottom.

Fair enough.

For the record, though, anything over one or two words is usually acceptable. You don't have to ramble on or throw in some bullshit if you've got at least a full sentence.
Also you'll probably be let off if there really is nothing more to be said.

You know, this is kind of funny. I just got done playing a TF2 game where some guy with HLDJ was going on and on about how he got off to that show. And then everone in the game joined in with similar stories.

So yes, it's weird, but you're hardly alone.

I don't buy into the whole "It's for kids and only for kids" thing either. I think a more appropriate word, if it's actually as good as you say it is, would be family friendly.

However, on the flipside to that argument, I can not, for the life of me, say "My Little Ponies" in a serious manner without just feeling childish and stupid. I mean really, that's a name you give to a fake show in order to MOCK shows like this.

Just looked up an episode on Youtube. A psychic unicorn at the beginning almost made it look like it would be trippy and interesting, but then it became the same old dumb jokes that only make it to TV because they figure children's shows don't need to actually be funny.

A frog lands on the unicorn's face, ribbits, and then an exaggeratedly cutesy-voiced pink pony says "He just said 'Nice catch' in Frog." That's the big joke before the theme starts. Really?

Why is this show getting so damn popular? Nostalgia is one thing, but a new show like this?
You did pick the worst one to start on. Not very many people like that episode, was really the worst written ones yet. Oh well =)

So for the past couple of weeks I've been quite enthralled with Friendship is Magic, the new My Little Pony series. I'm really, genuinely enjoying the show but I've been noticing a lot of people calling people (specifically 20 to 30-year-old men) who watch the show "gay" for doing so.

Why?

The show is amazingly well written (especially for a My Little Pony series), beautiful visually (seriously, this show is probably the best use of Flash outside of The Secret of Kells), and has great depth in its characters. It's exactly what most people ask for when they say they want good cartoons.

So why are people so virulent against a well-written, well-animated, funny and enjoyable My Little Pony series but praise (and I'm pulling out a completely random name here) the god-awful Transformers movies?

Why?
Just keep one thing in mind. Half the people in this thread have watched and enjoyed the Powerpuff Girls and Sailor Moon (including me). You can like anything you want.

Because they're stupid.

My Litte Pony is obviously brilliant, and the new series is far preferable to the original badly-animated 80s monstrosities that didn't capture the aesthetic of the toys at all.

I found this show a couple months ago in another forum I frequent, and people were praising it up and down. Originally, I was going to pass it up, until someone mentioned that one of the creators of PPG and Foster's Home had worked on it, and that 4chan was praising it like crazy. I decided to check it out to see if it was any good. Since all the episodes are on youtube, it was easy to catch up with, and I got hooked.

If you are dismissing this based on the fact that it is My Little Pony and on that fact alone, check out a few episodes of it. If you don't like it, that's an hour or two that you spent trying something out instead of pointlessly dismissing it.

For whatever reason I was shown this show over the weekend and to be quite honest... it did have its moments. However, its not the kind of cartoon I would take time out of my day to watch. I could see women my age watching it and enjoying it though... well more so than men my age anyway.

Eh, I tried about half of the first episode after seeing the love for it here. Not my cup o' tea, but I can kinda see how some could like it (besides the obvious group of pre-adolescent girls).
