Hello people of the escapist, I am distressed right now. (THIS TIME IT IS NOT FROM A GIRL...)
But as you may have read, I NEED A FRIGGIN JOB!
This is about half way impossible at age 14, but I refuse to surrender (THE RED ARMY CANNOT BE OVER RU... DAMN I AM A CAPITALIST...) So I turned to the place where I always turn to for advice, and funny replies.

But anyway, I owe my parents 200 bucks (not that much, I know, but when you only make 15 bucks a week from chores, It is not that easy.) And I want money for a laptop. I have taken matters into my own hands as best as I could. So I filled out an aplication to a local movie theater, but I still need references, the only problem is, My cousin applied at the same movie theater twice, and they never got back to him... I could see why though, I wouldn't higher my cousin for normal work.

But what I really need is some company names that will hire 14 year olds. Preferable movie theaters or retail stores. I only expect to make minimum wage, and at this point, I am not picky. SO PLEASE HELP MEH?
FYI- It is legal to work when you are 14, you just have some restrictions.

Umm, you do realize it is kind of illegal for most companies to hire 14 year olds - those pesky child protection, anti-exploitation and anti-slavery laws...

You might find some kind of job planting tree saplings for the city, or picking berries/whatever from a farm somewhere relatively close to you.

Addendum:props for being willing to work for the money. But it'll be hard to find a job - check your local laws for what you can legally do for work.

I don't think anyone hires 14 year olds. If I were you I'd try to find other ways to make money.

EDIT: Apparently because it's illegal. Anyway, maybe go mow people's lawns. If you charge 20 dollars, just 10 lawns and you're out of debt.

I've never known of a place to (legally) hire kids under 16. Your best bet is probably some local under-the-table work.

No, not that kind. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Don't bother with getting employed by a company or anything--Not many will hire a 14 year-old unless you're the son/daughter of the owner or something.

What you should do instead is get smart and employ yourself. Ask yourself "What is in-demand in my community and that people will pay for?"

The answer is usually yard work, so get your ass on it.

The laws only state I can't be hired for factory work, mining, or warehouse work or such similer, dangerous things.

Paper run?

I dunno man, I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone who'll hire someone so young.

Um you are shit out of luck because you aren't going to get hired being 14 years of age due to legal issues. I recommend mowing lawns or shoveling snow from peoples driveways.

That sounds extremely young to get a job. Most places I know of won't hire you unless you are at least 16(not because of legal reasons but because 14-year-olds are bloody immature). Actually, prey on people's ineptitude. Build websites.

No, That is the legal age to work.
While 16 is the minimum age for most nonfarm work, minors aged 14 and 15 may work outside of school hours in certain occupations under certain conditions. Minors may, at any age: deliver newspapers; perform in radio, television, movies, or theatrical productions; work for their parents in their solely owned nonfarm businesses (except in mining, manufacturing, or in any other occupation declared hazardous by the Secretary); or gather evergreens and make evergreen wreaths. [http://www.dol.gov/compliance/guide/childlbr.htm]

Nope, its illegal.

Who's going to pay $20 to get their lawn mowed? $5 is likely, 10 if you're lucky and maybe one or two people will pay 20 but how do you find ten people willing to pay $20 just to get their lawn mowed?

The key to job searching is to put in CVs EVERYWHERE. For every 100 places you apply to, only a handful will even give you an interview. You need to apply to EVERY business you can find, no exceptions.

Don't forget money for gas to mow the lawn.

Okay. In that case you might wish to try to local post service, newspapers, ad companies etc who pay people to put leaflets into people's post boxes. Yard work is usually a favourite for a lot of adults - politely explain your situation and surprisingly many people can easily think of something small-time to do for them for a little compensation.

It states I can work outside of school hours in certian occupations. My uncle owns a resturaunt that will hire 14 year olds, but I don't want to work for him...
