A suggested attribute would be to give it to large ppendages growing out of it's back, with spikes on the end, used for climbing buildings and stabbing.
Another would be to look like human, but have the ability to make tentacles burst from it's skin and strangle people.

A creature that is itself a sentient virus that takes over and reanimated dead tissue and warps and distorts the flesh into a sort of hideous deformed monstrosity. Specifically the ability to mutate and reshape the organs, bones and muscles with complete manipulative control. It also feeds on living biomass and can consume the traits of the victims it comsumes. Leaving only empty husks in its wake the creature is unstoppable, a living testamony to the true element of the hideous and monstrous part of the psyche.
But, but a virus can't be sentient!

Anyway, the monster should be the sound of Pantera, it would beat the shit out of anything it came into contact with.

You are out walking at night, and you look out across a field to see the figure bounding towards you. You glance around you, and when you look back, the runner has gained an unnatural distance on you. You gasp in shock, before fleeing and in a nearby barn. Looking out at the moonlit barnyard, you await the .

After several minutes, you get up and tentatively walk towards the door when suddenly the shadow sprints past outside. You jump backwards and hide against the back wall You hear footsteps pounding on the ground behind the wall you are backed up against, and you face them in horror, only to realise that they are rushing towards you from the entrance to the room so you turn round in terror to the sight of... nothing... The footsteps fade away in the distance.

There is not a sound to be heard, but it is nearly half an hour before you command yourself to convince yourself to leave the farm, and when you do, it is not without caution. Regular checks behind you form your rearguard and invisible phantoms assault the hastily assembled barricades of your fear.

Constantly, obsessively, this repeats, wearing down your defences, destroying the little order you still maintain, until your slow, skittish march becomes a self-contained rout and you break for the lonely fortress of your home, disappearing into the cold, close night...

This extract is drawn from my newest novel, Flight, and is due for release in bookstores near you sometime in the near future.

A monster that you can only see through the corner of your eye. It's probably been done, but the concept of that scares the shit out of me.
So it's a [a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somebody_Else%27s_Problem"]SEP?[/a]

Just gonna throw it out there, a monster with bile green skin, five arms top two have serrated fingers (six fingers) bottom are almost brick like in shape with little hooks all around the edges, and a middle arm in the chest that pick up and use object just as well as any human. These guys wouldn't be much bigger than 3 feet, but hunt in packs and are ambush predators. The body would be very thin with a flexible spine, and the relax like a snake about to strike, that being spine going out around the chest but moves back as it gets closer to the head. It has seven eyes, three in the front, two in the back, one on each side. They have a very fast metabolism so they eat and breed very quickly, and live for about a month. They're body is covered in a very viscous fluid to help protect them from attacks and to allow them to stick and climb surfaces. They generally nest in mountain caves, but as their food source runs out they'll move to new locations and nest in abandoned building or whatever fits them.

Huh, doesn't seem that bad considering I made that up as I went along.
Well they could have pack leaders, hunting parties lead by an alpha, they'd be about four feet 6 inches taller, and have a acid spit it can use to mark and maim targets for the little ones to decimate. There would also be an Omega in the nest, which would be as the next allows him to be. This one would feature 4 incest wings, and a acid spit evolution based on the environment, like an molten acid spit for deserts and a frost spit for colder climates. The Omega however never leave the nest unless it's to hunt down an invader, in which case it will leave for a half hour tops.

A vicous monster...ok then. take a bear, remove the fur, add scales, remove a lot of fat, add bat wings, and give it an angler fish face, and the final touch, a sonic howl. Have it live in tree or places that can remain dark almost if not all day. This beast will try to avoid creatures during the day, as the bright lights impair its eye-sight, but at night it roam around and kills for meat and kills for fun, leaving nothing but a carcass that looks like it exploded from the inside.

For the psychological monster, a two foot tall little fat purple guy with ears that curve like horns. They have telepathic abilities, so they can read your mind and entrap you in your greatest fear. If you overcome it, you become stronger for it, however should you fail, your force to relieve you fear over and over again while the fat one slowly eats you alive.

So i want to make a story (preferably Fantasy but it can still go anywhere a this point) so i decided to capitalize on the creative juices you guys have. See i need at least 4 monsters to get this story rolling, but i don't want monsters already invented, i need completely NEW monster ideas.
So guys, can you help me? These Monsters can Be Fantasy based (a reject of God's Creation) or Scientific in Nature (Dead Space Style)
So thanks Guys.
(No i'm not telling you guys why, for all you know i'm a secret government agent using you guys to create the new Bio-Weapon of the Future)
A giant vale-yellow blob-creature living in the industrial sewers, originally just a lump of custard mutated by years of toxic waste. He comes out at night because it fears any lightsource. Catching people with his blob-like tentacles and consumes them to grow bigger(and bigger and bigger...).

Good enough?

No story is complete without a Hitchhikers reference!

To complete the reference, the monster should be bright pink.
You just out-hitchhiked me.

I don't know what you're referring to.

A shadow type creature that latches onto your shadow then feeds off your life force until you're a husk and it posses you.

Failing all else, Cthulhu.

When the guide is talking about the SEP field, it mentions a story where a man bets he can make the biggest mountain on the planet disappear within a year. On the last day, he's totally panicked because he still hasn't figured out a way to do it. He gives up, and calls in a favour with a mate who runs a mining company, and they completely dig up the mountain and turn it into a new moon. Needless to say, the denizens aren't happy.

The guide says if he had just painted the mountain bright pink and erected a Somebody Elses Problem field around it, people would have walked over it without even knowing it was there.

Yes, I'm that much of a Douglas Adams junkie fan that I can remember all that from memory, and I haven't read the third book in three years.
You just gained +3 towels!

I have another idea.

A monster that when it begins, is nothing, its a blank space. But it can target and drain a person, slowly giving it intelligence and identity, turning them from mindless husks into intelligent beings. The reason they kill, is so they can become.

Good god, i think i'm a bit fucked up, no?

EDIT: I do belive this would fit for more of a Mythical creature, some sort of creature intended for punishment, gone rouge?
No,no you're fine.....Torturing Bastard eh! Well....I'll use that attribute then but pump it with steroids so it can affect a whole town or something.

Okay, but i have to make it a secondary monster.
This "Council of 4 monsters i'm planning to create are Intelligent, Ruthless, Insane, and Deceptive. But they have to be the ABSOLUTE Pinnacle of each, not that these are the ONLY Traits it has, but these are the first things the character sees in the monsters.

I guess this would probably be another attribute, but you could make a monster that moves like an electron, i.e. you can only know where it is OR how fast it's going, not both. Oh, and if I'm off on my particle physics, sorry, I'm no science major, just heard about this (property of electrons) once.
As in the person can choose between the two? Seems interesting.....an attribute though, probably half-way through the story will this br mentioned though

....it seems to much like "The Blob" for my tastes though....

Idea Noted *Noted* But......i know this seems like blasphemy but......i'm trying to make them more Badass than Cthulhu *Raises Anti-Flame Shield*

Interesting thought.....So if the Main Character learns about this, then He/She will have to question their beliefs on the monster a bit, i'll send a monster like this in the beginning though, to make MC doubt.....
Also.....you seem to be enjoying this....not that i'm complaining though...

How about a giant monster made from recycled body parts of various animals that appear to have been tipped into a blender set to "puree" and then give it the ability to absorb more creatures as it grows larger, incorporating their minds into its own.

I'm not that great at thinking of things like this, but use this to help with designing at least one of them: things that seem innocent are really creepy when they are corrupt. Bastardized innocence makes for great terror.

A small ball that has a large amount of tentacles protruding from it; it sits in one place but has so far of a reach that it is still a threat

Mines not a monster, more of a story I've heard around a few camp fires out in the Australian bush, the no-man or tall man depending on the version I heard, the story loosely goes some thing like If you see the no-man or tall man walking in the distance some one you know is going to die, if you see them up close your time has come, their appearance was usually described as a neolithic warrior, of an extreme height and length of limb, standing anywhere from 7 to 12 feet in height and wielding a giant spear, some times they were accompanied by wild dogs. They tend not to run at you or attack, just to be traveling loping resolutely along if seen in the distance toward a loved ones home or camp site. And if seen up close they just stare at you. Then some great calamity befalls the individual, for example they die in a fire, drown or fall off a cliff or commit suicide.
