Okay realistic me...

I though it was mediocre, and the multiplayer wasn't that great, the level desing for multiplayer was a little bit shallow. I liked Call of Duty 2 much better. SIngle player, multiplayer, the whole shabam. Call of Duty 2 is still the best in the series
I agree completely. I found COD2 the best in the series. Multiplayer on COD4 was okay but wasnt fair at all if you got matched up with people higher ranks than you and as such had better weapons.

I personally liked that game.
It was well... fun. Especially the sniper parts.

You can apply this to WaW, but not CoD4. Three of the best guns in the game are given to you at the first level. M16, MP5, and M40A3. The only gun you could need besides these would maybe be M21 and P90.

HERETICS HERETICS HERETICS!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem.
I loved the game, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it. It's rather arcade-like and unrealistic, so it doesn't surprise me that some people are frustrated by a 14 year old hyped up on sugar killing you from across the map with a pistol while jumping. Also, it didn't really do anything new, it just did it really well.
I preferred it to WaW because the online was much more balanced (at least on the computer, I've heard console auto aim makes certain weapons way to good) and the campaign of CoD 4 was easily the best in the series. I get adreneline just thinking about it. Also, WaW is yet another WW2 game. I love WW2 but it has been beaten to death.
And to you lovers of CoD2, it was a good game, but not quite as good as CoD4. The online had no stat tracking (on the PC) and the offline was just very good, not freaking amazing.

This.
Number 2 was the height of the series. And the only one to cover the desert war.
United offensive is second best, mainly because of the Bomber level.

Ok, so i've only played a couple of games with friends who have the game, but I never really liked it, I found the gameplay too much like the person who sees and aims first gets the kill, and snipers very common, prehaps it was because I was playing on a console, and I normally play FPS games with a mouse, but I found myself sitting out of later games just because I didn't like it. Anyone else share this oppinon? Or really like COD and want to tell me what I was missing.
It is very twitch oriented. It's almost like Counter-Strike with respawns sometimes. If you don't like twitch gaming, then CoD will never be for you, I'm afraid.

Hell of a lot you contributed to this.

OT: I actually quite liked CoD4, it was pretty straightforward, but done well.

I really liked it - but then I didn't really play much on multiplayer because of the aforementioned noob wall. I thought the single player was fucking fantastic, even if it was a little short. I didn't hate the ending, I was genuinely attached to the characters involved (mostly) and even though it made no fucking sense still felt a great deal of satisfaction.

What I wanted though, was a post credit sequence back in the UK, where Soap is telling the story to some new SAS recruits or something, and Price comes in on a wheelchair, gets up, and shakes Soap's hand and everyone cheers. Sigh.

I actually enjoyed the game, i felt it achieved it purpose to entertain me, online multiplayer is great, but i hate online multiplayer so i dont play it that much, the solo campaign i thougth was well done (except for the "ever spawning" points) and i got into the story that i almost cryed of joy at the finale.

also, 4 way split screen is awesome, i would play all the time with my friends!! :p

I like how people makes threads just to say that they don't like a popular game.

I completely agree.

First off, I found it too easy finishing the story in less than a day. The multiplayer gets too much hype, I personally prefer the Killzone 2 online or the Team Fortress 2 online (I know that they are both very similar).

I just didn't bother with WAW, my friends thought it was a huge step up from COD4. I explained to them that it has exactly the same game engine. But they say that it has different enemies. Then I say they are powered by exactly the same game engine. Then they say the setting is different. WHICH IS POWERED BY THE SAME BLOODY GAME ENGINE!!!!!

Its not that, its just that when you shoot someone in the back thery should die. Not be able to spin around and have a chance at winning.
Sounds like you're just not very good at multiplayer.

On a sidenote I love CoD4.

Terry Pratchett reference?

And on topic, i really enjoyed the game, but understand ppl have with the balance issues online. But I dont play multiplayer much so it didn't bother me.

Maybe im retarded... but so what if its on the same engine? Engine doesn't mean its going to be the exact same game.

Let's pretend you played HL2 and didn't like it. Does that mean you wouldn't play L4D because its on the same engine?

The multiplayer was the best part because it rewarded attentiveness, accuracy, and knowledge of the map more than almost any other FPS out there. The shooting was perfectly optimized, I almost never had any lag, and the maps had plenty of hidey holes, vertical depth and were well balanced. Plus, for once, the respawn system was fairly well done such that I rarely spawned and died immediately unless I was playing shipment or wetwork.

The only other FPS which I feel rewards actual skill as much as CoD4 is Counter Strike and I still play CS because at least in CS there aren't airstrikes and helicopters.

EDIT: By the way, the secret to playing CoD4 online is HARDCORE MODE! HC mode is the best thing ever invented, screw regular mode I always play hardcore.

^^^^ M16 with stopping power is one of the best weapons in CoD4 if you get good with it. One burst can drop anyone not using juggernaut.

Honestly it kinda sounds like your just not that good at the game. No offense meant, not everyones good at everything. And hell you may just not like it like you said, nothing wrong with that at all. I know people who liked WaW but hated modern warfare, to each his own I guess.
