I have noticed something odd start to happen where I work, more specifically with one person I happen to be forced to work with frequently. He's nice enough but when we were talking one day I said something and he shot me a look as though I had just eaten his child and offered him some. Finally I confronted him, because he has not been speaking to me anymore then he has to to do his job.

Now to tell the actually disagreement. We were discussing what we find attractive in people and I said I like pale-skinned girls. His reply when confronted: "You shouldn't." I hadn't heard a reply like that since I was a kid and I told my friend I liked Charmander better. Is there anything you shouldn't have a preference about? Like preferring a full heterosexual or a full homosexual partner over a bisexual? Or preferring to date a non-vegan over a vegan? When does something stop being a person preference and start being incorrect to feel any other way about?

I ask you my fellow Escapees, what do you think?

The guy you work with is a tosser. He has the sheer ARROGANCE to tell YOU how to think. Tell him to pull his head out of his ass and end contact with him as much as possible.

He's an idiot. What people like and dislike is completely subjective. Also, yes, he is an arrogant ass as the guy above me says.

Sort of off-topic, I guess I'd prefer a bisexual partner overall as I guess it raises chances of a three-way. You might disagree. I don't care.

Maybe he meant more ina way that you should see colour, though thats pretty weak of an excuse. sounds like he's just trying to sound high and mighty about not seeing colour himself.

People get far to easily offended... When it comes right down to it, he is offended by your choices. Society has cultivated this feeling in people that when they are offended about something, they can demand that you stop and conform to their ideals, and fuck off if you're offended by something they do because by god they are the ones who's feelings are important.

The entire politically correct bullshit that has touched everything is a byproduct of this goddamned selfishness.

Really just tell him to fuck off and worry about his own damn business. If he is so offended by your sexual preferences or any other damn thing then he can lock himself in a closet.

I happen to see alot of this right here on these forums. As an example, what if someone were to say he is a call of duty fan, eh? You bet people would be telling him he's wrong.

I am a console gamer, and every once in a while I'm told I should switch to PC because of the mouse being more accurate or simply because console games usually don't have complicated plots and therefore I am making the whole industry worse by playing them. Well, the computer I'm currently gaming on is a laptop, so unless someone is willing to send me enough money to either buy a good gaming PC or the parts to make one, I'll stick with my console.

People tell me I should be liking art games (Passage, every day the same dream) because liking action games makes me dumb or something. Well fine, I'm stupid. Why should I like something that does nothing for me to like it? Statements, messages, and themes don't mean a thing to me if I'm not interested or engaged or having fun. If that makes me stupid, then fine, call me retard mcspackypants, but I'd rather be stupid and having fun than bored out of my huge, genius mind, and I know of a certain game critic who would back me up on that.

Uh, wow I have just one question... was this fellow dropped on his head as a small child and he's only there for the equal opportunity employment?

When this post started I thought it would be about how everyone seems so outraged by this but you swung it in a completely different direction.

It's shocking how people seem so offended by this person's (who none of you bar the op know) opinion. There's a beautiful kind of irony in this thread.

"Yeah, so I, like, noticed that you don't think the exact same as me, and you, like, have your own opinions like a unique person is supposed to. I'd appreciate if you, like, didn't do that anymore, m'kay?"

Seriously though, the guy sounds like a prick. What does he care what your personal preference is? Does it threaten him that you think differently about something than he does? If he has the gall to say that to your face then I would hate to see how he acts on the internet.

Do you listen to anything this guy says? Well you shouldn't.
I know I shouldn't but I really liked that statement.

Elsewhere back on topic:
He probably just had a crush on you and found out you dig pale-skinned girls instead of him. Tough luck, I suppose.
You shouldn't tell others that they are not the type you prefer. Bwahahahahahahaha...

Okay let me put it the complete other way round:

You may want to confront him that he is just pissed that you don't fancy him but whether you do that or not is entirely up to you, my dear...
I would be sorely disappointed if you don't confront him - but you know, that's just me having my own opinion. I do believe you are going to do the right thing, anyway.

Just tell him that your preferences are your own. You don't need him telling you the what you prefer is wrong.

As a pale skinned girl, I may be a bit biased in saying; "Eff that guy." Clearly he has no taste. ;D

Really, though, people like that who refuse to accept the differences in others confuse me. How do they survive knowing that not every single person is a carbon-copy of them and they can never be with their one true love (their preferred gender clone)?

It's just a human nature to have him assert his opinion on you. Even if it's totally vague and flawed. Don't worry chap, he's being an idiot.

This guy needs to understand that just because you happen to prefer to date people of a certain skin color, you are not a racist. I am a white girl and I prefer white guys. That doesn't mean that I dislike people of other races, it just means that I may not be physically attracted to them. There is nothing wrong with that.

I say this becomes the new topic of discussion here! And I so totally agree! While it hasn't worked out for me yet, I've gotten much closer to a three-way with my bi girlfriends than my straight ones.

On the original topic though, that dude is an ass!
