Agreed, the internet req for diablo 3 is inconvenient and a little bit underhanded, but only knocks a few points off of a game that is still scoring more than well enough. As for the gears 3 skins, Im..mixed about it. I was happy about it at first, because before I knew they sold more, I just assumed the game only had 6 skins, half of which I couldn't even unlock cus I didn't play the beta, so the premium thing meant I could still enjoy them. On the other hand, an in game currency that allowed you to buy them would have been alot nicer, but we can't really expect a company not to cash in on some extra revenue if they think it won't destroy the game.Saviordd1 said:

I agree completely with this, everyone going off saying "it's your loss" or calling the OP arrogant. I don't think their is ever any way we'll get the gaming community to actually show a publisher it's displeasure. So then when we're all playing the homogenised pap EA is serving up with full online pass and DRM up the ass after EA has bought and closed everyother studio we'll only have these people to blame for the death of a once promising medium.Crono1973 said:

Alright, but why did you delete your saves? Those games are still good, and keeping them doesn't support Bethesda in any way (unless you cheer when their splash appears). That was just strange. Can you not even bear to look upon their logo in the opening credits? I'm pretty sure you can skip it, or at least mod it out.
Didn't you think that was a little reactionary? If they knew you were doing it out of protest, and it had a little momentum, then maybe it'd be a powerful gesture, but they really will not know. Is you're principle on this that fervour ridden?

I still think the legal department at ZeniMax Media has more to do with this, than Todd Howard or anyone who was integrally involved in the Elder Scrolls creation, rather than just funding. It's a frivolous and poorly constructed case that I'm almost sure Bethesda know is more damaging PR wise, than all the "confusion clear up" in the world. If their team are really behind this, trying to force some money out of Mojang (and of course, relieve us simple folk of the burden of thinking), over something so devoid of foundation: they really have lost all semblance of sanity.
So Skyrim will naturally turn out to be a turn-based dancing game revolving around the abolishment of women's rights, in which the lead protagonist, Hitler, uses a chainsaw made of babies to balance chemical formulae.

That's very... er... noble, but misguided and romantic. I don't want to say you're not going to change anything, because you might. However, do you know why companies have such big legal firms? They're constantly doing stuff like this. All the time! this is the one you just happened to hear about. There are probably thousands of lawsuits (frivolous and otherwise) that are filed everyday. Most are thrown out or settled at the courthouse door. Copyright and patent law are the worst. Bethesda probably has about two dozen little injunctions and other stuff ready to go against any company. It's just the way it works. They're constantly jostling each other.xvbones said:

lol dude, its not bethesda trying to squash competition, its either: A) Bethesda's legal department are being lawyer assholes, or B) Bethesda is trying to get some free advertising. either way, both Scrolls and Skyrim will be getting free advertising, and will probably both come out ahead because of this. don't worry so much, enjoy Skyrim, and then go enjoy Scrolls. have a good November 
This event won't really effect, me. I wasn't even planning actually buying it and I have it pre ordered. I kinda just lost all the care I had for it when they announced re spawning dragons. Though this court thing will not effect my purchases of more Fallout Games or Minecraft when I get a good laptop or computer. But hey man more power to you, hope this works for you.
Simple solution. Just buy it used. Bethesda gets none of your money, and you still get to play it.
If you want to sacrifice your own livelihood to make a statement, then all the power to you. But it would behoove you to first make sure that this statement makes any kind of coherent sense.
And how in God's name does this make any sense at all? Bethesda doesn't give a half shit whether or not you keep playing their games so long as your money's not on the line. that makes no sense. it is completely unfair of Bethesda to sue over such a common word. ive never played Minecraft, so im not a fan of Mojang or anything, but they are a very small developer and they have done nothing wrong.Exterminas said:

Scroll and Oblivion are very common words, and Bethesda does NOT have ownership of them. if Mojang were creating something called "Elder Scrolls", "Morrowind", or "Skyrim" then Bethesda would actually have a reason to sue. "Scrolls" is too vague. they have no case.
by the way, it actually does hurt Mojang to have to change their title. if they were to do so, then they would have to change everything about their game that has anything to do with scrolls. seeing as they decided to go with the name "Scrolls", it probably means that the game has a lot to do with them. it would be like starting over from square one. also, they shouldnt change the name because it would simply show that indie developers can be bullied by the big publishers.
OP: to be fair, you dont know exactly who made the call, and who the people are within Bethesda that actually agree with what is going on... the game is made by developers, but its probably a few assholes at the top that decided to sue Mojang.
