I never said I'd not buy diablo 3, I just thought they were being stupid, same for GOW3. Seriously boycotting a fun game is stupid, if its fun, buy it.Hisshiss said:I find it strange that everyone in this thread is relentlessly mocking this guy over his boycott, but I could barely find a single person willing to even admit they were still buying Diablo 3 during all of its hate threads.
I mean I guess the diablo 3 controversy was over actual elements of the game itself, versus the practice of its developers, but it still seems a little imbalanced.
Selective hatred I guess xD.
Edit: On that note, does anyone else find it weird that nobody has made a boycott thread about gears of war 3 selling those 21 premium weapon skins on day one? Theres like..6 in the actual game, and 3 of those required the beta, and cheevos from gears 1 and 2. So there are really only 3 skins in the game available for unlock without doing extra stuff, and the remaining 21 require a purchase.
it doesn't bother me too much, since they are relatively cheap and I can just buy a few and be done with it, but it seems like the kind of thing people would jump all over considering its similarities to the portal 2 hat fiasco.
Agreed, the internet req for diablo 3 is inconvenient and a little bit underhanded, but only knocks a few points off of a game that is still scoring more than well enough. As for the gears 3 skins, Im..mixed about it. I was happy about it at first, because before I knew they sold more, I just assumed the game only had 6 skins, half of which I couldn't even unlock cus I didn't play the beta, so the premium thing meant I could still enjoy them. On the other hand, an in game currency that allowed you to buy them would have been alot nicer, but we can't really expect a company not to cash in on some extra revenue if they think it won't destroy the game.Saviordd1 said:I never said I'd not buy diablo 3, I just thought they were being stupid, same for GOW3. OT: Okay, you do that, I'm sure they will miss your 60 bucks compared to the other millions they will get.

I agree completely with this, everyone going off saying "it's your loss" or calling the OP arrogant. I don't think their is ever any way we'll get the gaming community to actually show a publisher it's displeasure. So then when we're all playing the homogenised pap EA is serving up with full online pass and DRM up the ass after EA has bought and closed everyother studio we'll only have these people to blame for the death of a once promising medium.Crono1973 said:It's insane, when a person wants to exercise their right to not buy a game on ethical grounds, other gamers start throwing out hate.
Tell me gamers, what should a person do to protest this lawsuit?
I can see some CEO from a publishing company saying to his board of directors "We can do anything and we won't be boycotted because when a gamer even hints at a boycott other gamers react harshly!"
Good for you, champ!xvbones said:I want to start out by saying i am a huge huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and a huge huge fan of Bethesda in general.
Between Fallout 3, Morrowind and Oblivion, I have lost somewhere in the vicinity of 400+ hours of my life.
I am fan. I am huge fan.
And I will not be purchasing Skyrim.
I want to make it clear, I have been lusting for Skyrim since it was announced. All press I have seen looks magnificent. Everything I have heard sounds incredible. It looks like another brilliant Bethesda game that I will subsequently lose a massive portion of my life and time to.
And I will not be purchasing it.

I will not support a company that attempts to use lawsuits as a means of flagrant bullying and outright douchbaggery in order to crush perceived competition.
If Bethesda goes through with this utter horseshit of a frivolous lawsuit, I will no longer support Bethesda.
Even though this means I will never play Skyrim, I will no longer support Bethesda in any way.
I will not purchase their products. I will not play products of theirs that I already own.
I have already sacrificed 400+ hours of work on Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, deleting the games from my hard drive and removing all saves.
Bethesda will make a hundred bajillion dollars off of Skyrim.
Not a single penny of it will be from me.
Team Mojang.

Who gives a fuck?
That's very... er... noble, but misguided and romantic. I don't want to say you're not going to change anything, because you might. However, do you know why companies have such big legal firms? They're constantly doing stuff like this. All the time! this is the one you just happened to hear about. There are probably thousands of lawsuits (frivolous and otherwise) that are filed everyday. Most are thrown out or settled at the courthouse door. Copyright and patent law are the worst. Bethesda probably has about two dozen little injunctions and other stuff ready to go against any company. It's just the way it works. They're constantly jostling each other.xvbones said:I want to start out by saying i am a huge huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and a huge huge fan of Bethesda in general.

Seriously, go for it. You won't prove anything.
And how in God's name does this make any sense at all? Bethesda doesn't give a half shit whether or not you keep playing their games so long as your money's not on the line. Just because you don't support them doesn't mean you can't play their games. It just means you can't give them any more money.xvbones said:I have already sacrificed 400+ hours of work on Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3, deleting the games from my hard drive and removing all saves.
that makes no sense. it is completely unfair of Bethesda to sue over such a common word. ive never played Minecraft, so im not a fan of Mojang or anything, but they are a very small developer and they have done nothing wrong.Exterminas said:I actually side with Bethesda on this one.
It won't hurt Mohjang to change their WIP's project.
