Both are identical in EVERY conceivable way, strength, intelligence, paint job, etc. So how would the fight end and which one would be victorious?
If it's destined to be a tie forever I'd say paint one red and one blue.

Red will always win. Because... you know, red team always wins.

If they are truly identical, then everything they do will be identical. No one will attack first or have luck, as they'd do exactly the same thing at exactly the same time. Therefore both would lose (No, both wouldn't win, because only losers would end up in tis situation).

How can we tell which one won if we don't have names for them. This will become endless between, neither and the other one.

Why does the paint job matter? I mean, if you're betting and have odds, your gonna want both to look different.

Anyway, on topic, hm... I guess both would fight till one is worn down too much, or both just run out of juice. Or they get sentient, realize they're power and go on a human being killing spree.

This is a trick question. To be the same in every conceivable way would make them the exact same thing. There is therefore only one robot, which may be able to fight itself, but you cannot make a winner/loser divide out of what is one.

It would most likely come down to luck. No matter how well-trained, one robot will eventually leave an opening for the other to exploit. Either that or one will eventually suffer a mechanical failure that would allow the other to win.

Clearly, they'd murder each other at exactly the same time.

Since pure identicality is impossible, one would have a weaker spot than the other, and that might be enough to allow one to claim victory.

Assuming they are standard computer-like robots. The one that has the first clock cycle after the battle has fight. If they are properly identical, and each one sees the same thing, then (unless the out of sync processor cycles count as different environmental conditions) then they will both pick the same move and one will strike first. Otherwise, assuming they both know that the other is exactly the same as they are, they will know that "the only winning move is not to play"

Kind of a Schrödinger's Cat sort of thing isn't it. There is an equal chance of either one winning which is determined by some stroke of luck or a random event.

There is no way of determining which will win.

If there is only some degree of randomness, the chances are that they would probably fight really slowly or do nothing at all until one of them attacked the other completely by chance. If the other one counterattacks this, it could win, but the attack might be too strong. If the match doesn't end immediately, they will continue fighting and one of them will probably win. However it could take a long time for one of them to attack if the randomness is nearly negligible.

The answer is to get 2 characters in an Oblivion mod to fight over and over again but make them evenly matched. Then you will see.
