Put a 1 gay man 1 lesbian and one straight man into the fault to see what would happen and who would change sexual preference first.

Also, Have a vualt that for the first year, have all the books be political books, and all the TV and radio programs be political propoganda and debates (but not for the same goverment though). Then after a Year, the overseer will mysteriosly die, and his personal servent bot will tell the dewllers that there will be no new overseer, and that they must reorginize the vault, Will they negoiate about how they want the vault to be (democratic, comunist, dictatoric (new overseer) ,anarchrist, etc...), will they use force, will they devide the vault into diffrent camps, or just ignore it and live with no ruler (anarchristism).

Also, you guys are forgeting the point of the vault, while they didn't REALLY care about the dwellers, they didn't want them to die, what can they learn about humanity from that?

My vault would be just like vault 112 to were everyone is in a perfect simulation but i would have alot more peaple about like 400 so its big. The vault would be secure forever and yes I would be the simulation leader so i could have some fun with that! I would also be able to know what the situation is like outside the vault once the world is seems fine I would relese everyone and we would be in real life!

Stuff the vault up with kids, gore movies, weapons, and tools like chainsaws.
See what comes out once the vault opens >:p

I'd have two group deprived from two distinct cultures that strongly oppose and hate each other, each group would have control of the other groups food, water and power supplies, and they would both be aware of this. It would be very interesting to see what happened, if they put aside differences for survival or if they make some kind of truce pattern. Then again it would only take one crazy radical on either side to cut off the water/food and everything would go to hell.

I would have a Vault with the sole purpose of shooting the most tasteful yet satisfying love scene.

Yeah, the people in the vault could probably overpower the protectrons with their fists if they wanted. Also, I don't know why, but I am really fond of them, despite, or most likely because of their uselessness. Seriously, the Mr. Handy robots seem to be more capable security robots (actually, come to think of it, I have seen them used that way several times), and they were meant to be robotic assistants.

As a note to future readers: if you are a company planning on making security robots, they should be able to survive at least the same amount of gunfire as a human. Unless you still have planned obsolence as a business model, but I think that, in that case, people will catch on pretty quickly.

Moral choices are boring. That's why I would spice mine up a little bit. I would leave the vault door open, place a homing beacon and the codes to the door in someone's food, then watch them try not to kill him. It would happen eventually, it would just be fun watching them restrain themselves.
A cookie to the first person who comes up with a solution to keep him from passing it.

i would have one vault, but at the end of the vault is two very small vaults one containing only females one containing only males, each told the other one is there. But the doors won't be locked only "broken" they have to figure out how to get out and join the other vault in the main vault before the food rations run out (or so they think), also there will be two doors one leading to the out side where we have said they will die.

but there will be another two vaults both filled with lunatics/murders one vault male and one female and we will see how long it takes for them tofind everyone out and not die.also in the middle of the vault there will be weapons in the middle and everyone has been told to be careful because of the "infestaion" of zombies/gouls (there isnt) and see what happens.

Build a Vault with food dispensers that constantly dispense food, all the fatty stuff. Release a gas into the air that nullifies the brains signals that tell people to "Stop eating, fatty!".
All the jumpsuit extruding machines release incredibly comfortable and extravagant clothing, not just the jumpsuits.
Also the entire Vault is furnished like a ludicrously wealthy, vice enjoying billionaire, with all sorts of extravagances that people enjoy.

Then after around 50 or so years, assuming that the people haven't gotten so fat that they can't procreate, take it all away.
A series of bizarre accidents disables most of the Vaults entertainment areas, leaving the Overseers office, the living areas, and basically anywhere you can't have fun, intact.
The jumpsuits produced are now horribly itchy, and break down easily.
The food dispenser still produce the same types of food, just only enough to feed half the Vault. Also, that gas is still pumping.
Then after another 25 years, the Vault opens.

The Aim: See what happens when you give people everything they want, then take it away from them, especially after that are so used to it.

Hypothesis: Cannibalism, at least at some point.
That is 75 years. The people that initially went into the vault will be dead or nearly there. The majority will either have lived all their lives with the crappy stuff, or most of it.

And now for something completely different :p

I would give the vault inhabitants all they need to live, fresh water and food..
But i would irritate them to pieces in the entertainment department..

Everything entertainment wise would have some flaws to it..
-The tv would be without sound and subtitles
-The monopoly game would miss a couple of streets and hotels
-The ps3/xbox controllers would have 1 or 2 buttons on it not working properly and the bots would be on superhuman difficult and impossible to beat..
-The cd player would only play 10 seconds of each song
-The football would not be properly inflated
-The radio would never have good reception

I can only imagine the carnage that would happen when people go utterly insane..
Actually, the could well use this idea as a reality show come to think of it..

The stereo only play Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers on highest volume, And the volume switch is removed.

To see how long they hold out before going insane and murderous.

I really like that idea, but I think it should also apply to more prototypical things as well. Ie: all the decks of playing cards in the vault would be missing the 7 of spades, 9 of diamonds, and would all come with a 23 of clubs. The vaults would have marbles, but the shooters would be made of clay, and the normal marbles would be made of steel (the same goes for pool and billiard, in which the cue ball would be made of clay, and the pool/billiard balls would be made of steel.) People would have their index and middle fingers wonder-glued together to make sure they cannot play rock-paper-scissors (they could only have paper.) That way, even with old games like that, nobody is exempt from the insanity!

Another idea for a vault:

Replace all the water with highly sugary heavily caffeninated soda. Raise the temperature in the vault to 100 degress farenheit (38 degress celsius.) Also, for extra evilness, have the lights be exceptionally bright, with no way to turn them off (no one will be able to sleep, so they drink the soda), and also half the number of toilets and urinals.

Conclusion: The people would have a hard time sleeping, and if they did manage to get to sleep, they would be very energetic. Either way, the people working with heavy machinery would have a lot of accidents (a possible bonus extra evilness would be to have them have to continue to work even if they have had a major accident.) And the lines for the bathroom would be very long. Chances are, they would either go insane, have a lot of people die from industrial accidents, caffeine overdosage, sugar poisoning, drinking too much, or from the heat in the vault.

And another:

Make a vault with a cloning lab. Make "back up clones" of everyone. Make them all think they are the originals (ie: give them all of their memories, everything.) and have one of each clone in the "actual vault" (not the lab) at a time. Then start killing them, for bonus sadistic laughs, replace the ones that died with clones shortly after they died. See how the rest respond.
