Lots of games have dying or dead multiplayer modes, some of them were fun, just outdated now, others were just crap and died pretty quickly and there are those that were permanently turned off for some reason or another, but if you could get thousands of gamers back onto one of these games for some multiplayer bouts, which game would it be?

Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, because it was the first game I ever took online, and it's still one of the best. It's deathmatch only, but it's got the most unique movement mechanics I've ever seen in a shooter, which keeps deathmatch interesting long after it would get boring in any other game.

Skullgirls. I swear nobody plays that game online at all in Europe at least... I set the filter to any and i'll get some guy in America within a minute and it'll be instantly declined due to a ridiculous ping.

I have so much fun just finding combos in the training mode. Parasoul is mad difficult yo...

Oh is the Ass Creed Rev multiplayer dead yet? I hope not, I should go back to that at some point I think... Has anyone found a broken combo of abilties yet? I remember despising the poison and the one that makes an entire crowd look like you.

The random leavers would ruin an entire game though. It's like League of Legends on a much smaller scale. Everyone would never find each other because there aren't enough people in the game.

No its still alive and kicking :) I played a few days ago and there was lots of people (UK time).

I havnt personally found any broken ability sets yet. But other players can coordinate to keep you in a constant stun using the stun, smoke bombs and mute -_-

Thankfully it has only happened a couple of times...

And screw throwing knives, they are cheap as hell. XD

Call of Duty 4, before it was hacked.
YES! I still have yet to play a multiplayer game that I enjoy as much as I did COD 4. In my opinion it was the best multiplayer I have played. Balanced, easy to play, fun, it never got old.

I would like to see gears of war 2 multiplayer still be relevant.

Day of Defeat. That game was realistic as hell when it came to bullet damage not to mention how powerful machineguns were. A wellplaced machinegunner could control an entire street without the otherside outflanking him through teamwork.

The online play for Jedi Outcast was pretty fun. There were multiple game modes. There was your straight up deathmatch and team deathmatch. There was also one-on-one duels and a crazy game of 1 vs all. It would be terribly out dated now, but it was a pretty good time back in the day.

Nah, you can still get a game. People do leave in a game but more often than not other people will join after. It's hardly cod, but you'll find a match fairly quickly.

Although smoke bombs and knifes are pretty crazy. You're untouchable and no one can escape if they're off cooldown and you're not blind.

I would like to give it a boost though. It can take a while if you search at a bad time, and I don't know how much life it's got in it. Considering I'm on the aussie servers and they're usually the most desolate and I still find a game there, they'll probably last a while.

OT: Hmm.... Any of the unreal tournament games, I liked them all. Even three. They're all pretty much dead save for a few hardcore players.

Timesplitters.

That being said, however, the rights to Timesplitters would need to be in the hands of a different developer in order for this to be achieved.

I would LOVE if more people played Evochron Mercenary's multiplayer. Then I'd actually have people to fly around/fight over territory/explore deep space with. Also the community is amazingly helpful and patient. Too bad it's so goddamn hard to find a server that has anyone on it anymore.

Battlefield 1942. It is amazing.

Or even it's crazy-ass predecessor, Codename Eagle.

That said, if most of those thousands of gamers were idiotic 13 year olds... I'd probably rather we had nobody.

Left 4 Dead 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the Xbox 360. BC2 has been a ghost town since BF3 came out, and while L4D2 isn't DEAD, persay, it's still hard to get a full match.

Freelancer. Even with over two hundred people, that game can be pretty damn empty. Especially Discovery's added systems.

Not to mention a LOAD quit after the first level (usually the losing side) ¬_¬

I do have an mmorpg that I'd love to go back to how it was in the old days. It's still a highly populated game, but a lot of them are bots and farmers. And the few actual players you do meet are usually very a-social.

I'm talking about Ragnarok Online. Back when I was 15 it was my first ever mmorpg. I've played it for a good 5 or 6 years. Back then, people were social and friendly. People helped each other and things were fun because of the players.

So not really a 'multiplayer that no one plays any more', but it might as well be.
