If you had a Death Note how would you use it?

I'd burn it. Not because of the heaven/hell problem, but because I wouldn't trust myself with it. I might end up using it in a fit of rage and killing someone I loved. Power corrupts and all that. Besides, I just don't particularly think people deserve such an easy escape as death. If I wanted to punish someone (and being Death Noted does class as punishment for most people, especially if you're working with Light's motivation as many would be) I'd lock them in a small dark room, with no toilet and very little food. I'd pump deafening music in every so often at random intervals. There would be no access to natural air, only a trickle of oxygen so they can stay alive. Every so often I'd turn on lights that turn the room from pitch blackness to brighter than staring at the sun for bursts of a few seconds. I'd give them very little to hurt themselves with, so no easy escape there. And I wouldn't let them die. I'd keep them alive as long as they could, so they had to endure that for years and years. I might occasionally dip in with some new tortures, but to be honest, I think living like that would be hell for most.

Unless there's an "L" out there somewhere, which I don't think there is, I'd pretty much become Light. FBI Most wanted, Interpol most wanted, various other international criminals, they're first, followed by rapists, murderers, and anyone else I can get a name and face on. It would be a black death sweeping across the planet once more, guided by the mortal hand of fate for the betterment of this world!

Okay, so If someone uses the Death Note, they cannot go to heaven or hell.

That means that Heaven and Hell exist.

Which means that If I wanted to kill someone, I would end up seeing eternal...blackness after I die.

Nah. I would rather work from then on to get to heaven and burn the Death Note. Because eventually I might snap and use it. Better safe than sorry.

As I recall, that was just Ryuk fucking with Light.

Humans cannot go to Heaven or Hell, they just go to a place of eternal nothingness.

I'd probably use it, but very sparingly. I'd find ways to kill dangerous people or just capture them by having their subordinates reveal information about them. You can't use the Death Note to have a person kill someone else, but no one said you can't have them spill their guts about information. And I'll admit, I would be very tempted to use it for personal gain.

As for the not going to Heaven point of the death note. Did you guys see the series? It explains that the reason the user of the death note can't go to Heaven or Hell is because they don't exist. So, if your gonna accept the existence of the death note, you have to accept the rules of the series.

On another note. I just know that if some random idiot got a death note they would write the name of some world leader in it just for the laughs at the idea. The scary alternative would be them doing it hoping to kill that person.

but what if the death note could give you a premonition or something else gave you a premonition of the future. then use the death note to kill the person involved in that premonition thus controlling the the future. and remember, you can't be trolling without controlling

you would only have the premonition of the person dying by your hand, creating a paradox as you have no reason to kill them.
