If you hate CoD, why do you keep buying it?

I don't buy it, nor play it, because it doesn't appeal to me; nor do I hate it exactly, I'm just tired of hearing about it, which makes coming into this topic somewhat less than logical.

Bizarrely enough, I don't think the people who actually do hate it are the ones who are buying.

Personally, I liked Modern Warfare a lot and MW2 was enjoyable as well, but I didn't get WaW or BlOps cause they didn't appeal to me. I'll almost certainly be getting MW3, though.

I don't. I will play each new version just enough to deduce that yup, it's the exact same shit as the last one, then I will move on to playing GOOD games.

The last CoD game I bought was the first Modern Warfare, and it was only for the single player.

So no, I don't "keep buying it." I don't necessarily "hate" the series either, I'm just not interested in it.

It's a safe buy. Tons of people dont have enough money to make risky buys such as Vanquish or Mirror's Edge not knowing for sure if they'll like them. CoD is always a safe bet, you'll know you'll play the singleplayer, enjoy the co-op and probably get some weeks of gametime out of the multiplayer.
COD is not a safe buy, even the online is extremely lacking in features, the games don't even have proper clan support. The gameplay of the COD is a simplified FPS that is very polished. I know going in I'm at best going to get decent gameplay. I'd rather take a chance on a game that could have great gameplay than one that 100% for sure won't have great gameplay. Mirror's Edge and Vanquish are so much better than any COD game.

OT: I don't buy the COD games. The only COD I've ever bought is COD4, which was my 1st online FPS experience and it was fun for awhile. WaW went back to WWII. Then, MW2 was so unbalanced and broken. By Black Ops, I just stopped caring.

I actually love cod. Its a love hate relationship, occasionally it screws me over via lag, but its actually extremely polished. In fact, I went back and played cod2, and realised that while I still think cod2 is the best cod evar!!!!!!!! (look, excitement!) they really have improved the series.

I don't think COD is a bad series. Just way overhyped and overpriced. I only just recently bought my first Call of Duty (number 4, Modern Warfare). That was because I was offered it for an extremely cheap (for COD) and reasonable price, about $8 US. The only reason I don't buy another Call of Duty is simply because I don't want to pay such high prices for it.

The only Call of Duty game I own is Finest Hour on the ps2. I haven't purchased or played any of them since.

... Now, if they made a Borderlands DLC every year....

I keep buying it because I actually continue to enjoy it. I then actually then support it when people are starting their "Call of Duty is destroying everything" threads.

I've never bought a single Call of Duty game, but playing MW1 with friends in splitscreen a few years ago was fun.

I don't. I dislike the series, and openly defend said dislike if pressed. Your logic is very much like that used when people criticise politicians- "Well, why did you vote for them, then?"

I *didn't* vote for them. In fact, I went out of my way to vote for anyone but them, but my voice alone is not going to count against the millions who disagree with me.

Don't hate COD at all, but I am so very tired of it. MW2 was lots of fun, but had some pretty significant flaws which made for a game of comparatively lower quality than COD4; it was an underwhelming installment to the series once you got past the 'shiny new' factor.

I picked up BO and enjoyed it also and liked how they balanced the MP, while adding a few new innovations to the RPG system. Having said that: I'm really sick of the kill-streak system, and some of the ridiculous absurdities, such as being knifed off screen. I played it for a few months and uninstalled.

BF:BC2 is another matter entirely. I have had the game since day one and it hasn't grown old on me. It feels like a BF game, but adds so many cool things like destructible environments.

I'm not digging military FPS games, but I am really looking forward to BF3 if it can take all the things that made BF2 and BF:BC2 great and successfully blend them together. COD just feels superficial and uninspired.

*Edit*

I'd like to add that the COD community is full of pretentious dicks and racist/homophobic morons.

I agree that CoD isn't much fun, and that Vanquish and Mirror's Edge are tons above it, but that doesn't mean I don't understand WHY people buy CoD. For them it's a safe bet that they'll get enjoyement out of the game for a few weeks 100% guaranteed. With CoD they know day one what they're getting them selves into, but with other games they might not.

I've never bought one, as I don't like the FPS genre except for TF2 (which I haven't even played in months now). I don't see it as some evil thing, nor do I see its fans as being worse than anyone else. If you don't like these games, they are very easy to avoid. So I'd save my hate for something that's worth the energy.
