If you voted for Obama or you're a Muslim, you better not try to learn gun safety in Texas

You know, it's stories like this that REALLY strain my faith in humanity:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/31/crockett-keller-texas-gun-liberals-muslims_n_1064184.html?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl1%7Csec1_lnk3%7C109052

The short version is that this gun instructor in Texas has a radio advertisement stating that "If you are a socialist liberal and/or voted for the current campaigner-in-chief, please do not take this class," and "You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as required under the law."

But it gets better. He also said "Also, if you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class. Once again, with no shame; I am Crockett Keller ... thank you and God bless America,". The best part? Apparently, he's been receiving calls from locals in SUPPORT of this.

No words, folks. No words.

It seems a throw back to when bars would put up signs saying "Nob blacks, no Irish, no dogs".

I wonder where in Texas? I've heard some of their small towns still have the sign up at the entrance showing blacks are not welcome.

Whats wrong with socialism?
Whats wrong with Muslims and Arabs (they have awesome rocking beards!)
Whats wrong with being non-christian?
Whats wrong with Crockett Keller, well his name is pretty fucked up and he doesn't currently have tape over his mouth!

Only in America. Its hard to believe such bigoted, ignorant people exist. Muslims and Arabs that live in America are American because they chose to make it their home, just like all Americans. America was founded on beliefs of political freedom, religious freedom and secular government. Crockett needs a lesson on how and why the Americas was settled and eventually became independent from overseas rule.

What the hell do you expect people to believe? The media demonizes Muslims and Arabs alike and atheists aren't portrayed any better. These three groups are essentially considered the enemy by some people, fully due to their inaccurate portrayal by the media and politicians alike. People are fucking confused and mislead because of this broken and unjust system.

In regards to the "No Obama voters" thing, just look at the upcoming 2012 USA presidential election, specifically the political ads, or just go to a Tea Party rally. The people are being lied to by their own candidates. Instead of presenting their arguments in a proper manner they'd rather just use scare tactics and bullshit everyone into voting for them. If supporting democracy means supporting a system that perpetuates and allows such injustices to occur then I'd rather not support democracy.

How can anyone allow people so disingenuous to run for presidency? Candidates should never use scare tactics in order to win popular support and if they do they should be thrown in the fucking gutter.

Isn't that kind of thing against the law? I thought you couldn't discriminate based on religion or political views
If he is a private instructor, he can choose who he teaches as much as he wants. But what he said might get him a hate-speech sue to hes hands. But long as he is private he can choose who he teaches or in other words, sells hes product. That is capitalism for you.

Eh, can't say I'm surprised.

Ok, he's at least being honest about it, but one'd imagine lots of people like him finding reasons not exclude people who aren't American enough/whatever.

Only in America...that's all the words you need.
Change that to "Only in Texas." Here in the mid-west we're at least a little more sensible. Mostly.

Mmm.. racism

"The fact is if you are a devout Muslim then you cannot be a true American," Keller reportedly added. "Why should I arm these people to kill me, that's suicide."

Wow, just wow

I am shocked and surprised, a Texan gun instructor is dumb and ignorant as fuck.
I cannot express how incredibly shocked and surprised I am. COUGH.

My sarcasm detector just blew up. But yeah, this is not helping the whole 'Texans aren't right-wing racists any more' thing

I moved out of Texas just under two months ago. Glad this wretched and primitive hellhole hasn't changed one bit...

You know that racist grandfather everybody has? Hit him over the head with a shovel two or so dozen times, then leave him out in the sun all day. That's Texas in a nutshell, a state full of idiots, racists, religious zealots, I-am-totally-not-compensating-for-having-a-really-small-penis-by-owning-twenty-guns types, rednecks, and for some reason a really good university. Oh, and Austin is a pretty nice place as well...

I seriously believe people like Mr. Keller and his "ability" to get known all over the internet are reasons why America's popularity on a global level has been falling the recent years. Anyway it just like in school, seems the dumbes ones always get the biggest attention.

Thank you for remembering Austin is not like the rest of Texas. I've lived here for years, and it really is a wonderful place compared to some of the backwards thinking across much of the state.
