I must have it. I must!

I think I just found my new home-warming gift for my new apartment!

I would definitely get another one, colour it orange, and arrange them to face each other, thus creating an infinite portal tunnel!

And then I'd get dizzy and fall over.
I would just stand there for hours, waiting for Chelle to run by.
One could also put the two mirrors opposite on floor and ceiling, and try to jump through and go for the 30,000 feet achievement....but without springrunners on you'd end up breaking your ankles at the least. If it actually worked.

I just cut a hole in my wall, painted it blue. Works great, except for the exposed electronics!

Oval or circular monitor. Camera. Overlay camera image with portal effect. That would be the ideal setup for this kind of thing. I guess the real challenge would be finding someone who makes oval or circular monitors.

Still a pretty neat if pedestrian little find though.

Has everyone honestly forgotten about the <a href=http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/portal-tshirt.html>Portal shirts?

I actually thought for a second that IKEA had perfected Portal technology -.-
So did I.
I'd so do that...but my friends are dumbasses, and would run at it, hoping to go through, then blame me when it broke.

Simple and effective. Imagine installing a Screen that records everything going on in another room so you can see it! That'd be fucking cool. It could work as well!

I don't know is it's that impressive. it's the mirroring thing that bothers me. Now if you had a blue portal oval thingy, and an orange one, and you use those on the sides of a wall, and make a hole in the wall big enough to step through, THEN it would really be like portalling from space to space.

If he put an orange one on the opposite wall, then it'd really look like a portal when you stand directly in front of it.
Apart from the fact that you would see your reflection. Kind of ruins the illusion if you ask me.

It looks good far away, but you get up close, then bleh, wouldn't want it on my wall.

That's what happens in Portal; you see the back of yourself when you look in one.

Nice idea, but it's impossible to create a mirror portal like that, because the blue and orange portals would have to be on the same spot - or be one and the same, which you can't do in Portal. So let me be the first to point out;

FAKE!

FAKE!!!!

This is an obvious photoshop job. You can tell its a fake because the shadows are all wrong.

This is a lot like the scene in the movie Never Back Down where Max tried to pay for a traffic cam speeding ticket with a picture of money.
if you get this you are my hero
I don't get it.

This reminds me of the April Fools Portal tshirt thinkgeek.com did; the set up was that it had a portal on the front little LCD cameras to capture the corresponding views and a second tshirt with the corresponding portal and setup. They even did a video of how it worked, shame they never actually produced it! :(

At the worst, you'll end up in a faraway place where an intelligent AI program will be trying to kill you, that you defeat, but then somehow recaptures you for an even harsher sequel [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101842-The-Portal-2-E3-Demo-Will-Give-You-a-Headache].
... that's a bad thing?

Anyway, I've never seen the Portal mirrors before. I've seen the 'get a picture of your room' thing, though. I might have to make one someday.

I really wanna make one, but I have to go 50 miles to Cardiff to get one, as they don't send them in the post. Bad times.

Will try and get parents to get one for me sometime.

Why don't you make a portal shape hole in your wall and paint one side orange and one side blue!!! You can jump through it!
