The thing that could bring the "Portal Effect" is when you place 2 oval mirrors in front of each other. That would be cool!

I went ahead and made an orange and a blue one and put them on opposite walls. I problem ran into was that, when one looks ito the mirror to see the loop the two create, your head kinda gets in the way. To solve this I angled one mirror away from the wall with a small piece of drywall. The mirror loop the two create is no longer infinite(it only goes 3-4 mirrors deep), but it's much better than only seeing your reflection, totally ruining the illusion.

I must have it. I must!

I think I just found my new home-warming gift for my new apartment!

I would definitely get another one, colour it orange, and arrange them to face each other, thus creating an infinite portal tunnel!

And then I'd get dizzy and fall over.
Thats the best idea I think, makes it more simple, not perfect but good enough really, I am gonna move out of home soon, and I am soooo doing that in my lounge room.

Me and a friend of mine are gonna move out together and we are both big game nerds and both actually having good paying jobs at the moment, it will be a video gamers heaven.

Before I read the article, I thought some guy had sawn a hole through his wall and painted a blue ring around it. Of course, there would be an orange ring around the other wall.
That however is another good idea, make a oval hole in the wall, and have it through to the next room and paint each side blue and orange, if the wall is plaster then fill the gap in the middle up and paint over it with orange and blue, and for cement wall simply paint the middle orange and blue. You would have to be pretty stupid to put the wall through to a bedroom or bathroom though.

XD awesome.

Personally to get the most realistic portal, I'd just punch portal shaped whole in my wall and paint the inside blue XD that way you can go through it and oh look you are in another room saying to yourself "D: that is so amazing..."

Pavlov would be proud. Mention of Portal instantly got me whistling "Still Alive" while I read the article.

That does look pretty cool actually. The LCD camera feed thing sounds even cooler. I want some rich geek to get started on that right now!
ThinkGeek did it, but the shirts they made were only prototypes and not for sale... yet.

Ah Joe, you speak the truth once again.

OP: I'm tempted to make my own one, there's an IKEA not too far from where I live....

Apart from the fact that you would see your reflection. Kind of ruins the illusion if you ask me.
That's what happens in Portal; you see the back of yourself when you look in one.
Exactly. In Portal you see the back of yourself whereas in real life you see the front of yourself right in front of you.

*sigh*

I've been thinking with Portals. STILL, at an angle it'd sort of work.

Unless you have an identical twin looking at the other one, and a very symetrical room. That would make for an awesome picture.
