Reminds me of me... Only that I go to school and stuff. And sometimes when it's absolutely necessary, then go buy things. (And I don't get punished)

Grounding never really worked on me, i either got the wooden spoon or they just wouldn't do anything about it, grounding a insomniac really doesn't work, that invisable force keeping people home at night? yeah, that doesn't exist in my reality.

[small]EDIT: staying home to watch geeky shows and movies none withstanding.[/small]

Anytime I got in trouble it was for a justifiable reason. I wasn't a bad kid, but I was a habitual liar, so that lead to a lot of problems.

I was never grounded ever. If I did anything bad, I think my parents revoked my videogame-playing rights. That was pretty shit.

But yeah, back on topic, my parents really probably wanted me out of the house, so grounding was never used a punishment, ever.

That's the exact opposite of my parents. My parents almost never wanted me out of the house, they assumed the only reasons I would have for wanting to go anywhere would be to go do meth. (or some other highly addictive drug) It got pretty ridiculous at times.

The lesson there is, of course, to wear a toque next time.

OT: When I was 2 I got impatient for lunch. That got me grounded. I remember the oddest things.

I'm a fairly good kid. And I've got pretty awesome parents. So yeah, I've never actually been grounded. Hooray!

I've only been grounded once or twice, and i cant remember what they were for. Although i did get into a serious argument with my dad once for something really stupid, he told me to take my big waterproof jacket when i was going on a school trip, and i said there's no point because we'll be provided with jackets/wellies and anything else we need, and he basically said i was an idiot and it got pretty stupid.

Mine was recent to be honest...

some money had gone missing and my father claimed someone "stole it"
...the amount in question? £5
this is pretty sad seeing as everyone agreed that he probably just mis-placed it or spent it on tobacco or alcohol or something and ground all of us for it >_>

Back when I was younger I wouldn't have minded being grounded for this and that unless I deserved it, but when I was learning to ride a bike I remember accidentally putting a small scratch on my dad's car...I got grounded for 2 days because of a tiny scratch...

I was never a bad kid or if I was my parents were just so chill about stuff. My mom would try to discipline my but I never took her seriously so she gave up rather quickly. I used to go to my neighbor's house, who lived right behind us, until about 2 am. My dad used to stay up until ungodly hours so I would just have to pop him a call and all was cool. I should also mention this neighbor was a girl.

So as my teen years came along my mother forbade me to go over unless her parents were present, like I listened. Funny thing was she was two years older than me, completely out of my league and had no interest in me. So my mom had it in her head I was going over having sex with her until the wee hours of the morning when we usually sat in her room while she did crap on the computer or complained to me about her friends.

After a while my parents forgot I would be over there I would walk in and all was fine.

Wow, I did the same thing, same age, and my parents didn't give a SHIT!
They were like: "Son, you are old enough to make your own decisions, BUT if I ever catch the house in a mess after one of your parties I will take everything you love! I have awesome parents! :D
And look, I'm not raging alcoholic! :D

Well, after a retrospect conversation with my father over a bottle of Johnny Walker, we discussed the only reason I was grounded was because I drank all his Captain Morgan Private Stock haha. It's one thing to get wasted in his house, but drink all his shit and he'll get pissed quick.

Lessee...

On one occasion, I got yelled at quite a bit because my parents assumed I had yet to wash the dishes. They never checked, mind. I had it finished quite a few hours ago, and mentioned this. I was summarily grounded for a month (grounding in my case almost always means no computer either, which means non-stop work/studying till it's over) for "talking back".

Grounded once for a similar period of time for making a mess. Specifically, bleeding on the floor, which COULD have left a stain, though it didn't since I cleaned it soon after. To clarify, I was bleeding because, before arriving at home, I had been mugged and stabbed. Wasn't taken to hospital as it'd be a "waste of time". Incidentally, after they discovered why I was bleeding all over the floor, this was not taken back.

Oh, and every once in a while, one of my parents sees some "kids these days" sort of program/site/article/whathaveyou and searches my room for alcohol, drugs or whatever it is that they expect to find. Never found it - I may have a bunch of problems, but that's definitely not one of them, and never will be. The default assumption is that I just hid it really well, which means getting told to admit it a few times, an extended one-sided shouting session, and often grounding.

Fun times, really.

I was never grounded. By the time I was a teenager, I had a pretty good mind for logic and reasoning, so I never did anything that my parents would ground me for. If I did something bad, they would usually take away some rights like video games or withhold my allowances for a time. Good enough reason to not do stupid crap right?

My parents never really called it being grounded but my Mum really had a go at me when I said it wouldnt be a big deal if I wore semi casual clothes for a meeting for a Work Experience Interview. It wasnt even an interview, it was a chat outside the shop with the owner who was smoking at the time.

Just to keep her happy and shut her up I went in my school uniform I was wearing earlier. We both got what we wanted, I didnt look like a right idiot by showing up overdressed and she was happy that I looked smart enough.

I still think she over reacted, I got let go after a day anyway because I dropped alot of plates and scared a small child with my colourful launguage, I was a liability.

I was expelled for shooting my friend's plushie with a crossbow :(

Admittedly she was holding it and archery was over, but I had just read Naked Lunch and the crossbow was only a 15lb pull hand crossbow; adults just don't understand.

OT: My own personal one was for cutting the string on my tennis racket trying to place the shock absorber, the thing is I don't remember doing it and to this day still don't think I did it.Same thing with my dad looking at Internet porn and pining it on me when my mom found it.

Though my friend's tops mine as he got grounded by his dad for not saluting(or something similar)the Greenbay Packers. His dad is an odd guy.
