I never got grounded per se. I got stuff taken away, like the power cable to my computer. Anything I did wrong character wise, i got beaten for. only happened twice that I can remember (i was born with a tux, a stovepipe hat, a cane, and a pipe. A true gentleman.)

I've since traded my parents for a much stricter form of authority figure. And with them, getting grounded is no walk in the park. Getting grounded either means your sick, or you flipped your truck cause you were drunk. The first case, you stay at home till your better. The second case you goto jail.

My new authority figures dont fuck around with DUI's, lemme tell ya. And the jail they send you isnt a fun resort kinda prison. Its definitally a federal pound me in the ass prison, cause all the asshole marines who killed people for fun in iraq, or ran people over or lit people on fire are sent there as well. And they think everyone's mouth is real purty.

I never got grounded by my mother but my father that is a noter story. He could ground me for some really weird stuff, like for not give a fast enough respond, or trying to explain my side if the argument.

I didn't get grounded because I never went out all that much. I did get banned off the PC, or shouted at though. Mainly shouted at.
I remember once my mum shouting at me after thinking I was laughing at her when she was telling me off for something else. To this day I have zero idea why she thought I was laughing - I was kinda upset at the time.

She used to tell me off for being upset - and she wouldn't shut up until I stopped crying... yeah that was noottt good. Half the time I was upset because she'd been telling me what I did wrong... and I didn't want to be in trouble :/

One PC banning I got was for smashing up bodies on HL1 when I got stuck. I was bored, and I just decided to go round and pop all the bodies... no real reason why lol. Ban didn't really stick because I just used to play on the PC when she wasn't around.

I remember once having to pay some money to my brother for slightly bending a corner on his textbook. He lent it to me, and I didn't have any idea I accidentally bent the corner slightly, and it wasn't as if I ripped it or anything, just like 1cm of the corner was bent upwards slightly. Was a bit piffled I had to give him money for something that was probably just a minor mistake I don't even remember doing. Don't think he had the book long, which is why he kicked off lol. As far as secondhand value would have gone, I doubt a secondhand owner would've noticed it.
Ironically I now have the book, as he gave me his textbooks when he graduated from uni ¬¬.

Didn't really get grounded, i guess it wasn't a custom or whatever. Got yelled at or got a long talk or no PC. But no grounding.

I was grounded only once for what I would consider a really dumb reason.
I was 17, my curfew was 9:00pm, and I came home at 9:30pm.

I had ridiculous paranoia about breaking the rules as a kid, and my parents were fairly understanding.
As a result, I never got grounded.

The lesson there is, of course, to wear a toque next time.

OT: When I was 2 I got impatient for lunch. That got me grounded. I remember the oddest things.
Wow. Most people love to go out at the ago of 2. That must have been hard for you.
[small]I'm pretty sure that was a typo, but yeah.[/small]

I never really got grounded, its not that famous here, its more like ''no tv for 3 days'' or ''no playstation for 3 weeks''.

Got grounded for shouting at my brother, the bugger gets away with EVERYTHING, and I cannot retaliate!

I was angry after that.

I have actually been grounded a lot for this same reason, but I normally get out of it somehow.

I promise not to read too far into it if you tell me more of the story behind it.
Please?

my parents never really believed in punishing me haha, the worst I got was the 'disappointed' talk, which was horrible enough.
Mind you, I was quite a well behaved child so they never had much need..

I never got "grounded" as a child.

I guess there's not much culture for grounding where I live.
Me either, although to be fair, I wasn't exactly a "rebellious" child, I was just smart enough not to mention that when I said I was staying round a friends house, what I actually meant was that I was going out drinking.

To be fair a friend of mine once asked me if I took heroin because I wore a trench coat.

Never got grounded. I was partially a good kid, but also that kind of punishment isn't common in our family.

Well, apparently i should have grounded myself once because apparently it was the "Right Thing To Do" -- This is why you dont listen to the opinions of random peoples friends parents -- This was 5 years ago by the way :)

Hello everyone, I have a question.
Regardless of how old we all are now, we were all kids at one point or another. And, when we were kids, we probably did a few things that upset our parents, causing them to "ground" us, or put us on time-out or something of the like.

So, my question is this:What is the most ridiculous reason your parents have given you for "grounding" you.

I may not have worded my question all that well, I'm only operating on about 2 hours of sleep, so I'll give you and example of a time I was grounded. So you understand what I'm looking for.

One day, I decided to go for a walk, it was cold out, so I put up my hood on my jacket I was wearing. When I came home, my dad looked at me and said "Brett! Why are you wearing a hood? Are you doing drugs? Only people who do drugs wear hoods. You're grounded!" I couldn't believe that I was honestly being grounded for having worn my hood to help keep my ears warm.
Wow, that is the worst reason to get grounded for.

Main reason I ever got grounded where:
Clashing on different religious ideas, or forgetting stuff, and then lying about something because I forgot it. Suppose the second one I could've worked on, but I usually forgot.

And even then, It didn't happen much. Was generally well behaved or kept to myself.

/smug.
And you sir or madam have every right to be smug.
Good parenting is a skill that is quickly becoming a thing of folktale and legend.

OT; Yeah I was grounded a few times growing up. But grounding in my house didnt mean I got to go to my room it meant that I got extra house work.
