Can't you just put the game in a different box with T on it and sneak it in? Or can't you just not give a fuck and play it anyway? That what I would do.
That's probably what I will do, the T box thing.

Out of curiosity I checked the box on my copy of Oblivion and sure enough it's got the T rating. If you're feeling particularly sneaky, just find a copy made before the rating was changed.

Yes, the characters were actually nude under their clothes so all they had to do was mod the tops off and it was technically in the game.
No, all characters in every game including such as the sims are "nude," like barbie and Ken dolls, though you see no nipples / genitals. Modders are the ones who create the addition of that.

Am I the only without a problem with his dorm prohibiting M-rated games? It's sort of entirely the dorm's choice what students can bring.
Its the dorm's choice, but that doesn't make it right. Why should they ban M-rated games from people who fit the rating?
It's not a question of right or wrong, it's a question of who owns the property. It is entirely in the dorm's right to prohibit any nonessential items they see fit. It would be more wrong if there was no way the owners of the property could control what enters the property via the tenants.

If it's in Canada, then there is a high chance that the College is publicly funded, in which case it would be considered a public property.

Also, the amount of blood is a little gratuitous in Oblivion for it to be 'T'. It wasn't JUST mods that caused it to be bumped up to 'M'.
The blood disappears after 10 seconds, so I doubt that had any effect. Like I said the Dark Brotherhood bits are what helped push it over, as well as mods.
whats wrong with the wuestline (never joined the brotherhood) and i was wondering what the fuss is about?
You commit ritualistic killings for a lord of murder depicted eating babies and revelling in their blood. There is also a statue of said god throwing malnourished babies to the ground while they claw it it with little hooks for hands. Its pretty sick if you actually think about it.
I doubt it would sicken me as much as the old testament, yet I went to a secondary school that forced that on us.

The only college dorm that would have any business restricting M-rated games would be one at an early-entry school for gifted high school students who graduated early.

Otherwise, news flash: Your student body is drinking, fucking, and smoking enough ganja to keep Jamaica high as a kite for a century and you're worried about M-rated games?! What school is this, Pensacola Bible College?

Edit: As an aside, are they poking around your Steam account or are they basing the ban on people's CD-ROM collections? Because if they're poking around your Steam account, you might want to consider a different school---even if Mom and Dad won't pay for you to go (which seems to be a common problem with students at ultra-conservative schools.)

Eug, Oblivion Mods.

Bluntly put Oblivion seems to have become home to every video-game perv out there with even the slightest inclination towards mods. Oh there are good ones, and I actually intend to re-install Oblivion sometime soon and I've a list of mods which have been recommended to me on these very forums.

But my god is the main community of modders bad. It's gone from an rpg to some sort of dress-up-game for lonely nerds.

Out of curiosity I took a look at the main mod site and of the main mods being advertised on the front page right now, and they are in this order:

-Shiny bottle graphics
-Slutty vampire outfit
-Slutty bikini outfit
-Another slutty outfit
-Animation replacer mod

And it all started with your basic nude mod. Of course the reason for Oblivion becoming M rated was because modders discovered that Oblivion actually had nude models to begin with, you just needed to tweak a few files every here and there to expose them. And apparently because it was in the game files themselves, though inaccessible, the games rating was changed just like with GTA and the 'Hot Coffee' thing. If it's in the game by default = M, even if you can't reach it apparently.
I think you're checking the 'latest' section. I can't imagine any of those making it into the popular section. Chances are that no one cares about the outfits, and they were just done because it's infinitely easier to make something like that than it is to design an entire area + quest line (Along with possibly voice acting) like some of the more popular mods. It's also much easier than it is to tweak the combat while retaining some degree of balance like Deadly Reflexes or Midas Spells of Aurorum (The top two). I'm just surprised that there wasn't another poor weapon mod on the list.

Now imagine that little lizard girl, splitting her time between running around in a skimpy outfit, fighting bandits with a LIGHTSABER, and posing on a beach in revealing bikini.
...I need to get more mods

but in all seriousness I never had a problem with mods (because I didn't get that many only the ring that brings up the command console till I learned there was a way to fix that) meant to get more but never found a reason although the fact that the guy above me mentioned lightsabers and lizard people that look human made me more interested and gave me reason why I bought it on a pc in the first place (I could care less about the nudity mods)
It's I couldn't care less!

Saying I could care less shows that you care about it and I don't think that is the point you were trying to get across.

Funny.

But seriously.. what's the point?

Should they start banning provocative books as well? Surely there are books far, far more disturbing than anything in Oblivion? Boobs & corpses, oh noes! Anything but boobs!
ESRB will blow a gasket if there are corpse boobs in left 4 dead 3!

Um, seriously.. please do elaborate on this. I don't care about the rest of your question at the moment...

This seems absolutely absurd. Where do you go to school? 1930's Berlin?
Canada, things are different here
Hey dude, I happen to live in Calgary, Alberta, and I don't know of any colleges or universities that prohibit the use of Mature rated games. What is the name of this college, exactly?

Oblivion is really not that bad outside of some of the more macabre areas, which even then, are things I found perfectly fine for the game. The nude mods and the like, well, that's just silly to worry about. They're mods so don't download those and stick with the game-changers that is completely and utterly amazing.

There are some fairly "must-have" grand all-encompassing, conquer-all mods out there..

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul for one, Martigen's Monster Mod is another. FCOM Convergence is a compilation that allows for the merging of all the most popular overhaul mods. It's bittersweet, as it's a bit of a pain in the ass to go through, but the reward for doing so is immense. It gets pretty complicated once you start dealing with Wrye Bash and stuff like that, but it's worth it. Completely changes Oblivion, to how it should have been, in my opinion. You can customize your level of hardcore play, so you're not stuck in some masochist's nightmare...

All of that, and you still have all the little sweet morsels, like Bananasplit's Better Cities, and very simple but awesome mods, like better signs and Clocks of Cyrodil, which adds.. as you may have guessed.. clocks in all the towns that read the game time and calendar in-game, beautifully done.

Texture overhauls, distant level of detail overhauls....

So much stuff. I should finish my super mod-installations at some point. My basic setup right now is roughly 20gb.. and I haven't downloaded everything I want yet.
ugh, it is such a hassle but it is SO WORTH IT!!! I just need to figure out how to use wyre bash and stop waffling about what overhaul mods to stick with (I'm thinking MMM and Frans). Then all of the little details like the clocks, there are some really awesome quests, a race rebalancing mod, so much potential awesome. Damn you Bethesda, why could you not just make the game this epic from the start?!?

Canadian schools are not publicly funded. Ok, well maybe 30% or so. Still, the things we do on our school's wireless internet in Toronto... well, they'd make you blush.

I don't know about Canadian schools but about Oblivion mods I'm sick and tired of trying to find lore friendly attire, weapons, or world additions that aren't pervy schoolboy bullshit. 90% of mods for Oblivion are useless unless you really don't care about the story, just about killing stuff and looking at your naked cartoon. But, in the end, you put up with the bad ones because there are incredible mods out there that do improve the experience.

Best thing to do is spend some time putting in some of the kick ass mods and then make a backup of your Oblivion folder. Put it somewhere safe and if you ever need to reinstall just overwrite the folder with your backup. Instant modded install.

If anything about living at home taught me, it's usually easy enough to pretend it isn't there if you don't have the discs around ¬¬.
If for some bizarre reason they did want to look at your Steam install, it is possible to have 2 lol. I used to have 2 copies on different drives, until I got a drive big enough not to worry it was all on one lol. (I created 2 installs by basically duplicating one install without the game files, rather than using an installer)

It's already been said, but the console version was also changed to M. They just put a sticker over the rating of the copy I bought. The newer GOTY editions all say M.

I don't think Mods effect the ratings. That is user generated content, and you can't rate a game based on that. All online games would have to be rated M then, since people can pretty much say whatever they want on their headsets. If you play an online game, you will get a warning you may be familiar with, that says something along the lines of "Online experience not rated by the ESRB"

Even the Wikipedia entry you cite says that the "art file" was on the disk, not a part of user generated content. Had someone written code to add something that wasn't a part of the game by changing the file that would be different. For instance, there are many "Naked Lara" mods out there, yet Tomb Raider remains rated T because that content was not included on the game, not even in locked out form.

Good god, I would have no problem sneaking this game in another box or something. You must go to college with a bunch of uptight douchebags.
