This is an epic idea.

Now everyone will be blocking the .xxx websites, thinking it's okay now. While the rest of us remember the sites that don't use .xxx, thinking we're okay as well. :3

Also, xxx.xxx, awesome. Whenever I see that movie's title, it reminds me of that somewhat. Always hard to explain to people that it's NOT what they're thinking about when they see it.

You can't use .edu unless you are an accredited university, its very strictly regulated...in the US at least.
Frankly I do wish we had a system like that for them all.

Miscellaneous (since it kind has become that) .com, educational on .edu, government on .gov, porn on .xxx, business websites on .biz.

So on and so forth. Mainly because THEN it would be harder for people to make fucktard websites and act like they are educational when they are just spouting off propaganda to abuse the trusting nature of stupid people.

In a perfect world maybe ;).
Well for .edu and .gov that already happened. That perfect internet world you describe applies to those...once again at least in the US. Its impossible to get .edu (unless you show accreditation) and .gov belongs to the gov't, no civilian can get it.

'http://www.escapistmagazine.xxx' has a nice ring to it. Escapist staff could change the site URL to that and call it 'New Escapist', then when everybody get's bored of it change it back to 'escapistmagazine.com' and call it 'Classic Escapist', you'd get billions of hits.

Well there is already a domain of .ck (For the cook islands ;) )

I'm wondering what difference this will make. I doubt it would make one at all, save for letting parents know of any potential 'naughty' sites

Fuck that video! world of crapfest as a machinima tool is getting out of hand. SLAY IT ALL. In fact, let's just kill world of barfcraft completely. But I digest.

Anyway...yeah. So, suppose you have...18yearolds.com and 18yearolds.xxx. If I understand correctly, 18yearolds.com will no longer lead to porn?

So are all pron sites being renamed to www.pornsitename.xxx or are the staying the same and then new sites are getting the .xxx?
It depends on whether the porn sites care enough to make the shift.

It makes it easier to keep kids off the sites they don't need to be on, though.

XD That's one way to help parental and school blockades, but it makes me wonder if they'll eventually make all porn sites to go up to that domain lest someone's parental controls miss a site under a more common domain. Rather interesting.

Teenagers will no matter what restriction, always get access to hardcore porn. I am a prime example of that. Evading DNS settings and entire bans because I was simply a kid growing in a digital age. Well, fun times, fun times.
Y'know, I just read this in Garrus' voice, and it was hilarious (and strangely fitting).

From now on, I'm viewing this as like a parralel dimension of the internet in my head.

For instance, Escapistmagazine.xxx is the same and paralell versions of us are on there, but everyone talks about sex and everyone is naked.
So basicly its like the Escapistmagazine.com? Wait the rest of you aren't naked weird....

EDIt: Also imagine what would happen to all the videos in this paralell escapist, like zero punctuation would become zero penteration.
Doraleous and associates is a gay porn series where doraleous and Neebs do the most nasty things to eachother?! Ok now I have to clean that image from my mind.
Unskippable would be about the terrible stories in porn that you can't fastforward through.
Actually, that would be hilarious.

Wow, that video was one of the first things I saw on the internet back in the day. It's been a while.
I just looked it up yesterday, lawl. Also, I can't see what this was done earlier? A specific subdivision for porn seems like a smart move. Easy to block out porn in unwanted XXX ads, stop kids from doing things they shouldn't, etc, etc, etc.
