One of the reasons I think the original Star Wars movie was so successful was it turned that old gender stereotype on its head. Sure, they had to rescue the princess, but as soon as she got out of her cell she grabbed a blaster rifle and started kicking ass! I don't think Leia payed much attention to what was "only for boys" when she was growing up, do you?

So I say, way to go, Mom! Great job teaching Katie to stand up for herself!

And boys: when a girl thinks something is cool that you also think is cool, that's cool. Also, if you're anything like me, someday you will really appreciate women who aren't afraid to tell you what they like. For several reasons, some of which you won't understand until you're much older.

Ah, warm fuzzies =) It's nice when the internet is used as a tool to support someone, instead of flame them =)

Aw, I was hoping to hear about a bunch of guys in their 20s showing up at her school and beating the snot out of a bunch of first graders. Oh well, this is nicer, just not as entertaining.

To everyone mentioning that this restores their faith in humanity or reveals that people are nicer than the seem or other such nonsense, remember that this never would have happened if first grade children hadn't been taught to emotionally torment their classmates over sexist social rules for what movies you're allowed to like.

Anonymous: Because None of Us are as Cruel as All of Us. The internet is truly a force to be reckoned with. This is just like that case a while back with those redneck douchebags harassing that girl with Huntington's. You do NOT. NOT. Mess with the internet.

the Goldman family requests that these toys be instead sent to local children's hospitals.
Oh, HELL YES. Rock on, Internets. And rock on, Goldman family. Six-year-old girls everywhere should be so lucky as to grow up in such a loving environment.

God, I know the Star Wars films are campy rubbish, but you can't go out and bully someone over something like that.

7 year olds who haven't figured out that females having common interests as you becomes awesome down the line when your...interest in them changes.

I'm glad to hear no one trolled the kids. Afterall. They were just being kids. I probably did far worse to people back then. In-fact. I know I did.
And so did I, but I don't wave it away by saying "I was just a kid".
Age is not an exuse for acting like an asshole; Not for me, not for you, and not for them!
Now feel bad about it.
Saying that; I am also glad they did'nt get trolled. Those things get out of control.
Bullshit. When you're a kid you don't fully understand your own feelings. Let alone other peoples. Morality has to be taught. I won't feel bad for being an ass when I was a kid. It's what kids do.
Nooo, just some kids.
But whatever makes you feel better.

This really put a smile to my face. That little girl and her family showed a lot of class in dealing with this. The clone wars crew also deserves a lot of respect today, well done!
