Basically, whatever numbers you guys are spouting are probably bullshit and using some random ass scale. And there really are alot of different scales used for iq tests, one tests 150 may be another tests 80. Unless you took the test from these guys: http://www.mensa.org/ I call bullshit to any number anyone spouts at me.

Even then, you have to take into account the ever increasing average intelligence of humanity (The average iq of 50 years ago is techinically retarded by todays standards) so your "gifted" or "genius" ratings may just end up being only average a few years from now.

The IQ test and all other kinds of tests to gauge intelligence are always changing, I still think its a hard characteristic to quantify accurately. I certainly would not consider the IQ test as something that would determine how 'smart' someone is, or something arbitrary like that.

People with high IQ's will still fall into the category of doing stupid behavior, I have always understood that the IQ was a measurement of the minds ability to learn. Last time I took an IQ test was in freshman year of college, came back as 147.

Kind of a nice little nugget of knowledge, but dont think it goes any farther than that most of the time for any one person

I usually score around 140, a little below or above depending on the day I took it.

I'm not sure if I've ever taken a legitimate IQ test, but all the ones I've taken have scored within a few points of each other.

I took the Stanford-Binet once, in fifth grade. They were trying to put me in a special needs class. I scored a 142. Take from that what you will.

I think that the "special needs" class you were put into doesn't mean retarded kids, but like gifted kids.

I took the Weschler when I was 16, and ended up with a score of 160... I'm not sure exactly what that means but woo.

I took one at age 12. I got 46. But I am clearly not retarded. Explain this please. Really guys, you are all spouting shit to just increase the size of your Epeens. Unless someone can actually back up this with some legitimate evidence than all this is just worthless.
Someone previously said that IQ does not neccessarily dictate academic success. So unless everyone here with genius IQ's invents something amazing or becomes a doctor or actually does something successful, they are either a liar or a genius savant who cannot actually find any application for their incredible brainpower.
Think about it guys, you are probably all around average IQ wise, and there is nothing wrong with that.

I think it would be quite important to them to be using the most recent and relevant iq exams, rather than the outdated, inaccurate or completely bullshit tests found littering the internet (and schools).

Well, when I was 14 I had 142 IQ, now I have about 132.

But IQ tests are like driver's license exams - the more you do them, the better you do. For instance, my first test exam yielded 8 errors out of 18 questions (with 2 you still pass). Now I rarely get more than 1 mistake. And still finish the test with 20 spare minutes.

I was given a whole battery of tests a while back. A worker from the school board came to my school and pulled me out of class for various tests over the course of a few weeks. I think my IQ score was somewhere in the vicinity of 145-150 averaging out the scores from every test. My lowest score was 125 for math, and my highest scores were for memory and language skills. The former being off the charts and the latter being 157.

One last thing. The collective name given to all of the tests I had....the Woodcock-Johnson cognitive skills assessment. Seriously.

I've never taken one. I heard on a news show along time ago, that they have more to do with current culture than anything else. They said if someone like Abe Lincoln took one today, he'd test as legally retarded, just because he wouldn't know anything about current stuff.

Lincoln would be screwed because every year, the difficulty of (offical) IQ tests tends to rise. This is because 100 is the supposed average level of intelligence. As generations got smarter and smarter, the tests had to become more difficult to keep 100 as the average intelligence. Therefore, the intelligence required to get a 100 nowadays is much greater that the intelligence required to get a 100 a century ago. Even males and females get different tests to keep the averages at 100 for each gender

You think that's interesting, there's the Flynn Effect [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flynn_effect] which basically states they've actually been making IQ tests harder and order throughout the years, adjusting the score down, in order to keep it closer to the 100.

Nobody will claim to get an IQ of less than 110. This is the internet. Internet IQ tests are meaningless, so are claims without any real proof.

BTW my IQ was tested at 189. That makes me pretty smart bro.

That being said I have taken two such tests since then and gotten 132, and 121 ... and given the discrepancy between the two (taken not more than 5 years apart) I have to call bullshit on IQ exams in general.

A friend got 140, the same friend when asked by his teacher in class 'To pull up a chair' got one and then asked the teacher 'where to put it?'. Besides, standardised IQ tests under an fMRI machine show only to excite 3% of the human brain ... so it certainly doesn't test the whole range of human intelligences (yes I subscribe to the Triarchic theory of Intelligence).

I've seen 'geniuses' who can't even kick a soccer ball properly, whilst 'lesser intelligent' people can do so with impeccable speed, grace, and strength that they can 'sniper' those bastards at beer bottles on posts 40 yards away.

Why people don't think intelligence is multifaceted is beyond me. Surely the ability to co-ordinate speed, strength and muscular activity into a seamless display of physical prowess is nothing if not a sign of 'intelligence'? Surely if someone was a true 'genius' in all regards they should beable to co-ordinate muscular contractions and tailor their perceptions and theories so that they can achieve such a physical feat EASIER than someone of 'lesser intelligence' right?

But considering the wildly varying results i have gotten from different tests and the wildly varying results i have gotten from doing the same test (or at least the same scoring/methodology), i don't put much faith in the i.q system. But then, i don't feel the need to constantly compare myself to others or need an excuse to feel an inflated sense of self worth (i do fine without an excuse).

100 IQ is the average level of the population, yet NO ONE score below 110? strange indeed....

Maybe all those who do score 100 are all too busy laughing at dancing animals on youtube.
