I will take your moronic presidents daughter(who at least you can make hide) and raise you Sheva, the ammo wasting herb smoking, flat out worst NPC ally I have ever seen. It makes the game damn near impossible on the harder difficulties by yourself.
Sounds like a good thing I had my brother to help me complete that game..

And on a side note, I despise Ashley.

yes it is, single player on that game sucks. Also I think I hate Leon as much as I hate Ashley, mostly because at the end of the game he should have taken her up on her deal after all the trouble.

I actually liked Ashley. Mainly because you could get her to hide while you did stuff most of the time. She was bearable enough that I would want to protect her.

Eileen from Silent Hill 4 is a different matter. She can't fight worth shit, she runs about 50% slower than you, and the more she gets hurt, the harder the final boss gets. And I'm fairly sure she's with you the entire second half of the game.

Sweet Jesus. What an awful idea. She turned an already irritating game into an unbearable one. Oh, also the Victim Ghosts from SH4. Invincible, unstoppable, and they cause damage just by being near you.

Resident Evil 4 could've been so much better if you could've knocked Ashley out. Or at least given the damn ***** a gun.

I would rather have her just hide, mostly because if you give her a gun then you have to deal with the RE5 NPC crap.

Hmmm... the "fall through the floor and die" glitch in The Pitt from Fallout 3 pissed me off since my autosave was about twenty ingots back and I hadn't saved since then.

Can I just say that I found myself wishing for Maria when I was playing that part, and we all know how obnoxious she was. There was a bit where I was pinned in a tiny room between three ghosts, I managed to live but freaking Eileen went into possession state right then and there (yes, I probably should have pinned down the Cynthia ghost in the previous level, but I didn't).

As Yahtzee once said, truly award-winning bad level design went into that game, which is a real pity because I think it had one of the better stories in the series.

Annoying experiences would be just about anything that seemed contrived and pointless added to an otherwise somewhat decent game. Specifically these are the temple puzzle sections in Final Fantasy X, The AI that never gets better despite changing difficulties in Napoleon: Total War, and companions or escort people dying faster than Mole Rats in Fallout 3.

True, but at least she could defend herself against those guys who just 'carry her off'

(Sorry if a similiar thread has been made before)

So this morning I decided to play Half-life 2 for the first time(shocking I know). I was going through the Canal bit, and doing quite well I might add. But I come to this particular gunfight where my health is nearly completely depleted so I decide to make a run for it. Running along, and I get a checkpoint. But literally no more than a second after I get said checkpoint, I get killed. so now I'm stuck in this endless loop of reloading the game, then getting killed straight away. I tried for 10 minutes to get away somehow, but no luck. Everytime I get killed.

Not to mention I didn't save at all, forcing me to start the game again from scratch.

So my question to all you fellow gamers, have you had any similarly annoying experiences?
I saw your thread title and thought to post, and it seems I've experienced nearly the exact same thing! Mine was in Max Payne, though. During one of the crazy drug induced nightmare levels, I fell to my death. Realizing this, I immediately press autoload, only my finger misses just a tad and autosave goes down first. Now begins a pretty hilarious sequence of Max falling the last few meters to his doom, the game loading last save, ad infinitum. Very frustrating though. Also, since I'd only been using the quicksave/load, and there is no restart level or checkpoint system, that meant doing the whole game again. AWFUL.

As it turned out, I couldn't stand the thought of doing it all again (I was a fair way in), so that one never got finished. Joy.

It always pissed me off on super mario for the SNES, when you didn't jump in time and ending up falling to your death.

Fallout 3, I started the game as an Evil character, got to about level 14, next time I played I decided to go the good route, got to around level 6 and saved, went to load up my evil save game, found out I'd saved over it by accident.

The only thing more annoying was when i lived in my old uni accomodation, we had a 360 (belonged to a friend) and the ps3, so we shared games, one of my housemates saved over my pissing evil character on, yes thats right, fallout fucking 3, he also bought infamous, unlocked a few trophies and left the rest of them, i think i was one of the few happy people when the apocalps3 happened, got rid of my infamous and littlebigplanet trophies

Oh also, sonic 2, only having to jump once to become super sonic, made more annoying if you have lots of rings and fall down an unescapable spike pit

You can load from about 2-3 checkpoints back or alternatively, start a new game starting with Route Canal/Water Hazard instead of Point Insertion.

Also, how the hell did you manage to loose that much health in that part anyway? Metrocops take only 2 pistol headshots(or a single charged bodyshot if you know how to charge the pistol) to kill and at this point in the game they stand still a few meters in front of you and barely move while they plink away at you with their pistols.

Ehh.. how it happened is irrelevant!

Any part of any Halo game with the flood annoys me.

Also, the entire last part of Crackdown irritated me. It suddenly changed the rules:

In any other part of the city, you can grab onto any window sill. Not so in the last section with the sky scrapers. There, you can only grab onto certain sills, and the only way to know if you can grab it or not is to try it. Jump, hope, & pray it's one of the special few you can grab.

The buildings are so tall that most of the time when you jump, your target is off screen. This could've been fixed if the camera was pulled back.

Snipers are pretty common too.

The other 2 sections were pretty cool though. They really nailed the feeling of jumping & falling great distances. I could even get a little queasy with certain jumps with the camera angle just right. It can feel a lot like a roller coaster going down the big hill.

Yeah that is true... but I usually play co-op for Resident Evil 5, just so Sheva actually does something right.
