Nope, not too young man. Though if you don't want to be bitter but don't want to change your outlook on reality due to it compromising your integrity as an intellectual, you might want to look into becoming jaded and caustic as well. Ironically it'll make you a happier person.

Whiny teenage rant incoming:
I hate that I'm going through a bitter/depressing phase. I went through my entire high school career looking at the good things in life knowing they'll come. Then I went off to college, and I guess I had hopeful expectations, so when I arrived it was a giant disappointment. I figured it would be a diverse, open place that lacked the high school grunt work and had people who actually wanted to learn. It turned out to be the exact opposite than what I thought and my high school was better than this. At least I didn't have creepy 40-year old people in my class and terrible teachers. Not terrible as in mean, but terrible as in should have chosen a different profession they were better at. One of the reasons I was happy throughout high school was because I would think "It could be worse" and now it is and I'm having a hard time envisioning something even worse than this. Unfortunately there are no other colleges near my house, and I don't think I could handle working more than I already do and worrying about bills to the current shit I have to deal with.

I'm not bitter at all, and I'm 19. I've got little or nothing to be bitter about. No-one has fucked me over, I've had a good upbringing in a caring family who have enough money, I did OK in school and I'm at uni. My mates have never let me down, no-ones bullied me, and I've managed to keep life on a pretty even keel so far.

The only things I have to be annoyed about are things that I've only got myself to blame for, things that I regret doing or not doing, so I'm not really bitter, just regretful. Regret does you no good I know, and I waste far too much time overthinking, but hey thats me.

I don't know if it's a relationship thing that's made you that bitter, but even if it isn't, take this to heart. Learn patience. If you keep trying to force whatever little bit of happiness you can, you could damn well push it away, and turn bitter. If you just get on with life and learn to wait, it could come to you.
Reading that brought this quote to mind:

"Patience, n. A minor form of despair, disguised as a virtue."

From my glass-half-empty point of view, it's so true haha

You will grow up one day and realize you think to much. Or you won't and will be bitter and alone. It is a state of mind.

Hell no. Most teens are angsty little bitches, anything otherwise would be unnatural.

I'd say the official age to be an angry bugger is 65 (59 for Males) because that's when your entire body begins to slowly switch off and you suddenly find herself in the extreme danger group for a whole lot of cancers (namely prostate in men).

If you're bitter (true bitterness and hatred of others/self/society in general) by the age of 18 you damn well better have a good reason ... like .... you're an orphan, you have BDD, you were sexually abused, you've been mugged more than 8 times in your life, you have a rare disease causing you excruciating pain, you're a (former) child soldier in a brutal and violent dictatorship.

Any other reason and you're kidding yourself and being generally unlikeable.

I just realised after 18 straight hours of doing little more than read and generally be broody, i am a very bitter person deep down. The phrase "Why bother you'll just get fucked over again" has sprung to mind many a time.
Anywho my question still stands. Is their an age limit to absoloute bitterness, and if you are udner it is their something severly wrong with you?
Thoughts, Comments, Criticism's and STFU you mopey shit's are all welcome
I'm 17. I've been feeling like that since I was 15. If you think 18 is too young, what should I be thinking? Wearing cynicism as my armor has helped me got past the downs in my life. Mainly because I expected it.
Generally, always assume the worst and surprise holds little power.

Age is and has always been just a number. Bitterness is certainly justifiable depending upon life experience. What circumstances you have struggled through define you as a person, not how long you've existed.

When you're 18, that ain't being bitter, that's angst.

Being bitter is 20 years of hardwire programing in being disappointed, by then you won't even notice it and might even think you're a happy person. Only until someone tells you you're bitter and that comes as a shock.

Imagine a septic tank, at 18, disappointment is a rush of scum, feelings that comes and goes across the surface. At 35 or 40, it's like the thick sludge that has settled at the bottom, and trying to remove it is....very difficult to say the least.

What do you have to be bitter about? Parents won't bend to your every desire?

I don't know exactly when, but I like to think that I've always been aware that the world is a shithole and it's pretty much futile to try and change it...
I'm constantly being told that I have to feel sorry for someone, or a group of people.
I have a great life, nice house, everything I want, I go to a good school, have lots of friends, but that doesn't make the world a better place.
Mind you I'm not some emotional pit of darkness, I do fine. I enjoy myself when I can and prepare for what awaits me in the future, but I still look down upon the human race and the many injustices and flaws that exist in our supposed perfect world...
There are just too many things to be bitter about at once so I just choose to ignore everything...

This is a not very well thought out post written in haste. It will probably be taken in many different directions and most likely be misunderstood, but I still don't care.

Haha, of course not! Being bitter can happen regardless of age. Calvin from the famous Calvin and Hobbes was bitter, and he was only six! You don't have to have no teeth and be incontinent to be bitter. Although, bitterness tends to grate on one's self after a while. Try apathy. It's much of the same, just without the hatred. Works for me just fine!

I've been bitter ever since I was 9.

Just because I knew who Geoffry Chaucer was then made everyone hate on me.

It's never too young to be world-weary.

These days I prefer to drink bitter, though.

Do you have a terminal illness? Has your entire family been murdered? Have all your possessions been destroyed and your house demolished?

You have absolutely no reason to be bitter! Start looking for positives and you will become positive. This seems like just another thread whereby someone is one of those "I hate the world" types.

Its extremely fucking boring and shallow and not a day goes by without another relationship thread, or a discussion about gays or religion or manga appearing on these boards.

Seek happiness rather than attention and you never know, you might become dare I say, more human.
