is anyone else finding BF3's Team Deathmatch not fun?

I know the title is a bit controversial to say the least, but there must be something I'm missing.

im not speaking about the overall mechanics, killing people, but i find it to be not fun at all. the vehicles for me are awesome, and the whole squad aspect adds to the teamwork etc, you know practically what every other reviewers been singing praises about. but the one part where there is no vehicles and the game is trying t

unfortunately i'm not finding any fun to be had in the Team Deathmatch. Team Death match is so badly flowing. it just doesn't feel like it fits the shooter which is weird considering that its a fricking military shooter. the camping people make it boring, and the feeling of BFBC2's destructo environment was good to combat them. i know it's something that everyone complains about in every FPS multiplayer, but annoying is still annoying. but the destructo scenery is somewhat held back. and the maps are poorly used to make allowances for Team Deathmatch (in my OPINION therefore doesn't necessarily apply to how you feel whatsoever so don't feel the need to point this fact out). if i had to compare it to CoD, i'd say the Team Deathmatch isn't as flowingly quick.

i dunno.

I don't know if it's just me and my mates, but TDM has been boring as hell in just about any FPS since CSS imo. With something like Battlefield, we may jump into TDM for maybe an hour to learn the feel of the weapons, vehicles, get a rough idea of the maps etc, then jump straight from there into another game mode and never look back.

Haven't picked up BF3 yet, but I have no reason to doubt it would be any different. Just not my thing at all.

You won't do that. Different game types use different potions of the maps. There are no vehicles in TDM either. A round also generally only lasts a few minutes, I never had a round go over ten, so you won't have much time to learn the weapons. You'll want Conquest for everything you just mentioned.
Well that just negates any reason i'd have to jump into TDM. Thanks for the heads up.

The thing about Team Deathmatch for Battlefield 3 is that it was most likely put there to appease the legions of twitching Call of Duty players who can't go five seconds without hearing an explosion and have the patience and attention span of a common household toaster. TDM is basically Battlefield's answer to CoD's gameplay and if you're into that sort of thing it does its job very well.

Sure the spawn locations suck, and the using anything other than a submachine gun, rifle or shotgun puts you at a major disadvantage, but these are complaints that show up all the time for CoD games, so what's the problem?

You've still got a variety of other gametypes to choose from; Conquest for good old-fashioned Battlefield-ing with nothing missing, Rush for the tense objective-based excitement, Squad Rush for an extremely tight version of Rush where you really have to work with your squad and can't rely on a whole team to back you up, and Squad Deathmatch which is an interesting sort of hybrid between team-based TDM and free-for-all (4 teams of 4 each fighting it out, if anyone's unsure).

But yes. If you like CoD's gameplay then you'll probably be happiest playing Battlefield 3's Team Deathmatch. If you don't, give it a try anyway. It's still a fun little distraction from the other much better game modes, so long as you don't justifiably rage at it.

TL,DR: Team Deathmatch is Battlefield's answer to Call of Duty. If you like that sort of thing, play it. If you don't, play one of the other gametypes.

Cheers.

I've always liked Rush far more than any of the other modes. Team-based games work a lot better when there's an objective beyond "kill more of them than they kill of you."

The way I see it, TDM, Squad Rush, etc are there for when you feel you need a break from Rush and Conquest. Which shouldn't be very often because they are awesome.

I agree. They pretty much ruined it with the random spawns, but than again, I'd much rather play conquest and leave TDM for CoD.

TDM is much better in a game like Quake Live or Unreal Tournament 2K4 where the maps tend to be larger, can't really be camped as much, players move around faster, so it's easier to get a weapon (or in UT2K4 you can use your shield to not die instantly when you spawn, etc.) but yeah, I agree, BF3 doesn't have the kind of mechanics that really suit TDM as much as say, Conquest/point control.

Y'know I actually found it quite fun. The idea that a expansive tactial war game can be condensed into a small-squared arena with completely random spawn points which can plop you right next to an enemy with a life expantencey of 13 seconds, as oddly fun.

I'm ok in the vehicles, but not so much on a ground. My problem is I keep getting killed on the ground. Any tips?
