I certain life or death situations there is nothing wrong with it. Other than that I'd say just have some pork instead. "Apparently" they taste the same anyway.

this was inspired by that "incest" thread, wasn't it? (not to imply they are similar, but they are both taboos that people NORMALLY don't like to talk about)

Anyway, yes, it is wrong. Not only health wise (yes, it is VERY unhealthy, this is scientifically proven), but because...I mean how would you live with yourself knowing you ate another human being? You just ate someone who once had thoughts, hopes, dreams, a family, and they are now dead and inside of you. If that thought doesn't disgust you there is something mentally wrong, period.

EDIT- people are okay with this? are you fucking serious? Here, read this, all of you, right now.

bit judgmental, aren't we? lol jk

OT idk I've kinda always wondered what ppl tastes like, but it seems kind of icky. also, if they died naturally you probably wouldn't want to eat them. not to mention the health risks (yeah i clicked the link)

While I'm against it purely because it disgusts me but so long as the deceased had no problems with it and none of their relations have qualms with it either, then from a moral standpoint I see no problem.

I don't think there's anything wrong with actually eating human flesh, but there's a hell of a lot wrong with how people would obtain it.

I get the feeling this is related to the "Are cemeteries a waste of space?" thread...

This is leading up to something, and I predict it's zombie apocalypse.

I wouldn't do it, and honestly I'd probably try to discourage someone against it. But I guess there's not a problem with it.

No. They are not using it, nor is the human body sacred in any way. It is going to decompose anyway; why not provide you with energy as well?

Kinda know what you mean.
Have you seen 'Hannibal'? That brain scene gives me the munchies for some reason.

i was think is cannibalism wrong im not talking about farming people or hunting them down from food but lets say some one died naturally would it be wrong then to have some of his ribs for lunch? so i want to know what you think escapist.
i am was think bad grammor is wrong im not talking about misplelz or wrong capitals just total did-not-re-read clusterfuckery. so i want to know what you think escapist.

OT (with apologies): That's actually an interesting question, especially since it implicates those "moral choice" mechanics a la Fallout 3. In the modern age where we can appropriately separate identity from physical form, why should any manner of screwing with the dead be considered wrong? I mean, yeah, it could fuck up those related to the deceased, but only in an irrational, grief-stricken sense. In any case, certainly there's something more productive we could be doing with the boatloads of corpses we're always making, right? I hear there's even a robot that can run on dead flesh now.

Its extremely distressing that all of you seem so eager to answer this question. Mind telling me whats the difference between us and zombies? ( Besides the dead part)

Excluding the survival part, I would never dream of it. There are just more cons than pros, and I find it horribly disgusting. What insane person would devour the corpse of a dead person? Do they have any respect for the dead? Your eating something...no,someone who had a voice. Someone who had feelings, friends, family, pets. He had a life! He could have affected so many people ( hopefully in positive way). And you reduced him to a fucking meal. A pile of flesh. I don't think I could ever live with myself if I did with, and a person who has isn't human anymore. He is a fucking monster.

This is excluding a survival situation. I would be extremely reluctant, but I would eat someone to survive. But only as FINAL option.

You quantify a person as purely their flesh and blood? Ouch.
I'm honestly not sure how to respond to this. I'll just say that a person IS their flesh and blood, and whether or not we have souls hardly matters in relation to this subject. So if I eat someone's body, but not their soul, I'm not actually eating them? Bullshit.

Honestly, after reading just how many of you are actually saying that cannibalism is okay "in the right circumstances" or if "they died naturally" I was about to just flame all of you and probably get severe mod punishment. Instead, I'll just post this one last thought on the matter.

Okay, let's ignore the obvious and scientifically proven problems that would arise from eating another human being. NONE of you would be able to do it, because none of you are the emotionless sociopaths you pretend to be on the internet.

Go ahead and say I'm wrong, but you all know damn well that I'm not.

Wrong.

When Jehovah God made us, he made us to have dominion over the birds, land creatures & sea creatures.

As a matter of fact, before Adam & Eve screwed up & decided they wanted to live their own lives & not look to Him for guidance, we were intended to be herbivores!

Then when we got tossed out, we were allowed to eat of the burnt offering, & somewhere in there we were allowed to kill animals for food purpose, not game, but NEVER a human.

Not in cold blood, defense or anything, we are to never spill the blood of another, let alone eat them. Why would you?

I mean, we have a billion other options out there to chew on& you would choose some dead person?

That's pretty gross.

With what am I referring to regarding dominion over what now?

God says these words to Noah and his family after the global flood.

"Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man?s brother I will require the life of man. Whoever sheds man?s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man" (Genesis 9:1-6).

That is the NIV Bible, but all of them are about the same, KJV just has more thee's & thou's.

I use the NWT to be honest, proven much more reliable & easy to read.

Nonetheless, cannibalism is morally wrong & just plain gross if nothing else.

Sick.

Don't feed the trolls anymore kids.

Oh yeah, I forgot that, GREAT point, we are FILTHY creatures & you would want to eat us? You are what you eat... Yeah, I wouldn't eat me after the things I've eaten. Guh, gross.

We don't eat any animals that died naturally, do we? Why in the world would we eat people that died naturally? And obviously hunting and killing people comes with its own set of moral problems.
