If you want to eat other people, you can never look at yourself without thinking, simply, "food".

That's self-destructive and I would never allow myself to become self-destructive.

Well, when you talk about people who died naturally, a rule of thumb when it comes to meat is to never eat anything that died by itself, so thats the first problem.

The way i see it, its wrong to do in any way apart from pure survival and even thats stretching it. For example, if you're stranded in a boat and your friends or crew have died and you have no food, you'd need to eat them to survive. But then of course there is the psychologial problems and that you'll probably keep wanting more.
Lolwut? Where did that come from? You seemed to be making a sensible argument up until then.

EDIT: OT: Also, what about organ donation and blood transfusion?
I'm pretty sure i heard on a program that eating your own species leaves you wanting more but now that you think about it, i think i am wrong. >_>, Sorry.

Only in the direst of circumstances. Not because I think it's wrong, but because I'm sure people taste awful and I only would try it if I had to.

Plus it would be pretty fucked up if if turns out I liked the taste of people.

If they die naturally then there's nothing wrong with it, really. But I would never do it, as I suspect most won't, unless it's my only option

I dont really have anything against it. I personally wouldn't eat another human (especially if they died naturally) just because of health concerns, but more power to you!

There are a number of ways to get good quality, non diseased meat without resorting to murder. Pretty much any accidental death, or a murder commited by someone whose not the people who eat the meat. That would still apply in a large number of situations that would easily accommodate this hypothetical. Lets say, for example, an earthquake where the population is suddenly without food, likely because the place the earthquake happened is very poor, and food storage was destroyed. Lots of previously healthy, freshly dead corpses, and a desperate, life threatening need for food.
The problem with most of those is either
a) In the case of murder you would be sacrificing evidence for food. The meat would begin to rot and in the time it would take to find and do a full autopsy the meat would likely be mostly carrion. Carrion is not really healthy. You also take away the families final viewing rights.
b) Accidental death falls under the same reason. Unless someone found the accidentally killed quickly the body will quickly begin to rot, attract insect and rats, and face contamination. As well in most cases an accidental death would involve the body bleeding internally. There is a reason why you don't eat deer you run over on the road.
c)Or it would fall under survival, which i have already said is understandable.

it depends on your morals and religion my morals say if it's life or death the it's ok but if not it's wrong and i don't really have a religion other than there is a god and he doesn't really care so no problems there either.(i don't care what anyone believes so don't go trying to convert me)

I'm pretty sure that there's actually no nutrition to be gained from eating another human. Don't quote me on that, because I forgot where I heard it, but still.
OT: If you wanna expose yourself to the dangers, and if no one else has a problem, it's your funeral.

This thread gave me the idea to start a chain of fast food restaurants. I think I'll call it Hannibal's.

But really, the idea of eating a human being just disgusts me. I'd only do it if i'm trapped in a cave with one other person and I'm starving. And if I happen to have some fava beans and chianti.

Why is eating people so taboo? Humans are animals, and we dine on other animals all the time. Knowingly eating a person wouldn't be overly easy, but unknowingly I bet a lot of people would enjoy how we taste. JJudging by the fact doctors use pigs as human stand-ins, I'd say we taste something like pork.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. I saw some TV show (I think it was on the Discovery Channel) about cannibalism, and that's what happened: some guys were stranded in a lifeboat, one dude died, and the rest of them ate him to survive. They interviewed a few of the survivors.

It was pretty gruesome stuff; interesting, but gruesome.

Why does this topic keep appearing on the Escapist over and over again? This is like the third fucking time in the last two months. Either some of you need to take a break from Fallout 3 or I might have to go to great lengths just to make sure nobody here ever finds out where I live...

depends on the situation. if your starving and their dead, why not?
Pretty much my view. Generally I'd say no, but if it was a matter of survival and the other person was dead already while you were starving with no other food sources... there wouldn't be much other choice, would there?

Fuck I hope I'm never in that situation.

Interesting speculation but I would rather not have to find out for sure.

in the right situation...like where starvation held in the balance...yes if someone died naturally it would be okay in order for a group of living people to survive

right and wrong are relative, but no i dont think its wrong.
i probably woulden't do it because im fairly sure we taste bad, but if i get the chance i may say yes. its always good to try new things - or whatever that saying is.
