Is Cyberpunk 2077 going to be best CDPR game ever?

Hello friend,

so last year Cyberpunk 2077 reveal and shortly after words gameplay reveal. in gameplay many people were complaining about its first person which should have been third person. and i am the one who think if it was third person it would suck. being first person is far more immersive. other than gameplay reveal was underwhelming last year but even with that. i always think game wont be bad but it wont be what everyone was hoping for. but still it bound to be by far best CDPR game ever.

fast forward this year its again reveal with john wick. and the trailer was cool. plus after that we show glimpsy of gameplay footage here

even thought its almost same. but CDPR said game will be different than last year reveal and i have seen it how it looks better than last year reveal. they need to drop bullet sponges enemies though. even main character (male V) also looks better here and sound different than last year reveal trailer.

althought im not very hype for it. something like open world turn me off, and something too many dialogues and romance system which i will ignore ie waste of time, but the world looks amazing and since no Deus Ex game will be coming out in future anytime soon because square enix killed this. i hope this game will hold the gap.

cyberpunk setting is coolest setting in my opinion. its setting also one of the reason why Deus Ex 1 is still greatest game of all time.

so my friends, are we getting hype into this? will it be only good FPS/RPG after Deus Ex and System shock?? lets discuss

word from the floor is muddy to okay. Gunplay is average. Both gameplay types shown (a hacker and a strength based character) played nearly identical. and the setting looked underutilized

none of these things sound too far off from what I've seen myself. CDPR made one good game that everyone likes, that doesn't mean everything they touch from now on is going to follow suite.

It will probably be a decent shooter RPG with forgettable everything else

CDPR only made one overrated game. but yeah knowing CDPR i always except average gameplay/combat. beside none of FPS/RPG has good combat. not even Deus Ex which is greatest game of all time.

if it was third person, i would have ignore it like a plague but its First person. its FPS/RPG set in sci fi cyberpunk world. and resemble Deus Ex. thats what caught my attention.

Maybe. Hopeful, but will not be surprised if disappointed. Either way, it'll probably be a pretty decent game - but Witcher III is a hard mountain to climb.

Well every game they've made has been an improvement on the previous game, so this one will probably be an overall improvement as well.

Then again, considering it's a completely different gameplay style who knows. Cyberpunk 2077 might end up having tons of issues because it's their first fps and they have no idea what they're doing, and then those might get fixed in the sequel.

Its too early to say. I have faith in CD's ability to create a great game but its too soon to already make such a statement. I do think Cyberpunk will fail to live up to the hype. At this point no game will ever answer to the pedestal people are placing it on. In that sense the Whitcher III had it much easier as its two predecessors were quite niche at best. The mainstream gamer likely never expected the Whitcher to set the world on fire and this might have played a part in the game eventually doing just that. In contrast just about everyone is already expecting Cyberpunk to set the world on fire which could lead to it not doing so.

In this industry hype is inversely proportional to the games actual quality. The more its marketed and seen as the next coming of sex the more likely it'll fail and being a glitched mess.

I just wanted to point out thay 2077 was first teased in 2013 and will allegedly release in 2020.

I think it'll be good, but disappointing. It will never live up to the PnP RPG for me, no matter how good it is.

Well, considering the fact that it's not doing anything that Deus Ex and Vampire the Masquerade didn't already do and that the PR and themes with the game seem to be really awkward and clumsy, I'm gonna file this under "iffy to doubtful."

Well I didn't like The Witcher series, I played the first two only for about an hour or two each before never playing them again, the gameplay didn't get me and the grimdark was just too depressing. But Cyberpunk looks good, visually pleasing for sure and the gameplay looks alright, maybe its not amazing gameplay but I think the story and aesthetics will get me.

Witcher 3 was my favourite game of 2014 and also very overhyped. It's gained a mythological status that it generally doesn't deserve.

Cyberpunk is going to be rated as good based on the expectations you go in with. If your pretending how good Witcher 3 as a basis for CDprojekt games, you are going to be disappointed. Nostalgia glasses do this all the time.

Dark Souls is another example. The first one was great but thinking you want the same thing again caused whiplash when DS2 came out and they went in another direction. Any of the series now gets compared to the first game but it's taken on the mythical status that no new game can obtain. And I always point to have Ornstein and Smough as being lacklustre and it's half the game. But somehow it's still classed as significantly better

No idea, I shall have to wait and see. The game has been in development for a *lllooonnnggg* time though, so there is always the danger that they have overworked the formula somewhat. Chalk me up as 'interested but cautious'.

It?s disheartening to hear how underwhelming the game is from the same people who made The Witcher 3 so overwhelmingly critically acclaimed. I want it to be good but it seems they might?ve bitten off more than they can chew here with all the options, and not fleshing any of them out into significant or meaningful variations of play styles.

The game might very well have everything including the kitchen sink, but it?s not worth it if all those parts are paper thin. It?s why I?m relieved that FROM?s new open world RPG won?t be focusing on towns full of NPCs with dialog trees and all that, because they understand their strengths and what people play their games for.

That?s the problem with sequels; expectations of the new while waxing nostalgia through rose tinted glasses. Far too often latter games would be viewed through quite a different, more favorable lens if the release order was shaken up.
