Only bad Hentai is bad.
Compared to regular porn hentai doesn't degrade women (and men!).. you can say it degrades cartoons, but that might be a tad difficult argue. It also allows for a much broader spectre of fantasies and imagination.

As for the underage/loli argument.. everybody is got his turn-ons and fetishes and if you can satisfy them with just some cartoons, who are you hurting anyway

nothing is inherently good or bad. On one hand it doesn't exploit women, gives an outlet to certain...interesting fantasies and at least try's to have some fun with its story. On the other it promotes myths and stereotypes and some of its fringe stuff is damn nasty, I'm looking at you Lolicon rape sims.

On the whole whether its bad or not depends on your stance on pornography, if you think its ok then chances are you're not going to have a problem with most of it, even if it doesn't do it for you. If you think all porn is sick then the fact that the fact that the people are animated isn't going to make a difference.

I don't know. As a dude who doesn't watch any porn, it strikes me as less morally reprehensible than live-action. Nobody gets objectified or whatever. No ladies or dudes have to throw out their pride and fuck on camera for money.

I'm assuming you're referring to the whole issue with tentacles and furies. To this very point, I will point out the existence of Rape, Beastiality, Incest, Pedophilia, and a whole range more of pornographic genres which exist on this very internet. If I asked you whether any of them were bad, chances are you would say yes. If not, I'm a tiny bit worried.
But what if I asked you whether you thought porn in general was bad? 83%Probably higher than this, but I couldn't resist the reference of people on this forum would say that it most certainly isn't. They're two completely different questions. So, I believe that Hentai is good. At least, it isn't bad. I'm honestly not that interested in porn and the like, but as far as it goes, Hentai is just as good as normal porn in my mind. As to your other, unasked question: personally, I don't like tentacle and furies, however, I acknowledge that some people do, and respect their opinions.

As to the point that Hentai also includes Rape, Beastiality, etc etc, I agree, yes, it does. However, these acts are completely taboo, and I think that if these videos must exist, better they be animation than a recording of the real thing; because in one, the act isn't committed.

Well, homosexuality is illegal in that one country (starts with a U, I think) but no one else calls it that.

Anyway, it's a fucking lot better than actual underage kids having sex with tentacle monsters, I can tell you that. And regardless, I find people being swallowed whole sexy, so I shouldn't be throwing stones in the first place.

Bad hentai does certainly exist but the medium as a whole is not bad. "Bad" is also a very general term, and I'm not sure whether you mean morally bad or bad quality and since everyone else has taken the morality side of the question, I may as well address the quality side.
There's a lot of quality hentai out there that actually has romantic stories involved and aren't just straight out sex. That's a HELL OF A LOT more than you can say for regular porn, where really bad actors give a half assed performance that you just skip to get to the "good bits." Yes, hentai like this certainly does exist, but I find a whole lot more of it that I've actually enjoyed the story more than the stimulation it provided. Not to mention, you just don't get written porn over this side of the pacific other than trashy romance novels, which are always bad (This is just my opinion from what I've read) and completely targeted at the female audience. Hentai does indeed tailor more for the male crowd, but there still exists a large amount tailored for women as well.
This post is getting a bit long so I'll cut it off with short answer: No, not all hentai is bad, but some is, just avoid the bad stuff and it's really no different to any other form of entertainment.

Just because one country has laws that go against common sense, doesn't mean the whole world is insane.

Personally, I find rape and loli to be bad. But in my opinion: if a potential rapist, or pedophile, got their fix of hentai and thus do not go out and actually rape someone I think it is 'good' in a way. I suppose it has value in that regard, but doesn't mean I necessarily approve of it.
