there is good ones out there my favorite is Red vs blue and chronicles of the annoying quest (WoW) for lulz and Tales of the past part 2 and 3 for jsut good story telling (i say part 2 and 3 cause they did not really try with 1)

I'd say that Machinima (as in Machinima.com) is entirely overrated. They're trying to take something that people got together to do for fun (or for cheap, if you're an aspiring filmmaker on a budget) and turn it into a business.
Then again, I could be biased. I do voicework for a small machinima team and we had a hard time with Machinima.com way back in the day.

machinima is a media form where you take footage from a game and make a (usually) short movie out of it
All of Machinima can't be overrated, only certain Machinima.
Some of its good, Like the classics Red vs Blue, Leet world (Honestly best machinima ever), Freemans mind, and so forth.
Some of its total crap, I never saw the appeal for DigtalPheer.

I used to play World of Warcraft, someone pointed me to a machinima that I think won one of Blizzard's competitions. It's called Tales of the Past 3 and it's amazing stuff, I remember thinking that it was better than anything I'd seen at the cinema in the last five months. It was a pretty dry patch for decent cinema but that doesn't really detract from the video's quality.
I no longer play WoW but I still think this movie is pretty good, definitely worth a watch, but be warned it's full movie length.
I think this is for the full movie, there should be a download link on there somewhere or you can just stream if you're a heathen.

I didn't know i was supposed to take Machinima seriously. I'd rather watch a porn of caboose and sister from RvB then watch something they produce

one thing I've noticed is that there are few that people agree on, everyone seems to like different ones, there isn't one that stands out as an exemplar, besides RVB
