A combination of the two. But by no means is what we call 'television' dying. Something like that will be around in some way for a long, long time, I think. If anything, it seems like a lot of the programming available is actually getting better than it ever has before, especially when you have cable channels like Showtime or HBO. There's always gonna be shitty TV like there will always be shitty films and other kinds of media.

But 'TV' is strong, still, as a form of entertainment and story telling, combined with being given more liberties and more things to get away with. I mean, look at television even 10-15 years ago, and imagine a show like Breaking Bad or Dexter. Even something on a network like FOX, like some of the dark comedy in Bones.

TV is quite alive, it will just merge more and more with the Internet and with our Computers, instead. People clearly still want some well-produced, story-driven entertainment

What is with all these "Is something dying" conversations? People say cinemas are dying due to digital distribution, books are dying due to digital distribution, magazines are dying due to digital distribution, etc. A slight decrease in popularity isn't a death.

Tv is not dying. All that's happening is the way we watch it is changing.

TV shows themselves are stronger then ever in my opinion.

With "dying" I don't mean that TV is going to disappear completely in the near future.
What I mean is that TV will no longer be the "supreme media" and be a lot less influential comparing to the Internet.

You can't relax on the sofa in front of a PC, which is something TV still has in its favour.

Well then "dying" isn't the right term, now is it? Television isn't speed toward death.

TV is doing just fine, in England at least. It's just that gamers spend more time using their TV for playing games and don't give themselves chance to dig for the good stuff.

It's not dying, and if it does it won't be any time soon. Yes, it's tru* that TV's glory years have come and gone but television is too unique and important a medium to ever fully die (though I'm sure people said that about the newspaper too so what do I know).

Agreed 100%. I've been watching that show since I was two years old. Jeopardy is a distant 2nd and Wheel of Fortune is a very distant 3rd.

There are a few shows I watch on TV (Daily show, It's always sunny in philidelphia), but for the most part, I don't watch it that much. I think it will shift to a part of the internet, but it won't die. We'll still have tv shows.
