As Velvet Assassin was not a good game, no, I am not describing Velvet Assassin.
And Assassins creed is?
Oh, please. How cynical must you be, that you can't admit that Assassin's Creed was far superior to Velvet Assassin? It was, at the very least, better.

Play BF:1942 then.

To reply to the thread, no, it's my favourite genre.

Yes incredibly over done and every WW2 game seems to be the same.
I'd like to play from the 'bad guys' point of view just because it's different from being either British or Americans all the time.
And the russians, they get more of a look in than the brits... heck if your history of ww2 was based on modern WW2 games/movies you'd be forgiven for thinking that Britain wasnt in the war, let alone all of the other smaller allies.

the Omaha Beach version in BF1942 was weak... I loved the Omaha Beach in Day of Defeat and in Medal of Honor (cant remember wich one) :) they are awesome, lots and lots of hectic shit going on

Assassin's Creed meets WWII = Good Game.
No more FPS games though, please.
I believe you are describing Velvet Assassin?
He might be describing The Saboteur [http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-the-saboteur/49866] which is going to be shown at E3.
That game certainly looks nice enough and quite sneak-tastic. =D

NO...

If you were cast as a Filipino with bolos and a karis running through the jungle ambushing Japanese infantry units, or a Korean or Manchurian Chinese rebelling against the Japanese occupation, that would indeed make for a very interesting game.

There's your Assassin's Creed tie in right there!

Maybe the first ten minutes of Assassins Creed was better. But atleast Velvet Assassin wasn't the same boring missions time and time again.

I am tired of seeing the same battles palyed out continiously. How about the fall of france? (No Americans, wont be done) A total focus on the back and forth nature of the desert war? (Partially covered in Cod 2) Italian campaign or one of the many mederitian isalnd invasions?

I'm sure everyone knows Yahtzee's quote about Americans and World War 2 games. Yes, it's played out. No, there's nothing more you can do with it. I want to see more games about the Norman Conquest, the Hundred Years' War, the reunification of Japan, and the American Revolution. Let's try something different.

A game where you play as Jack Churchill, and only Jack Churchill.
That was an epic win. Now that game I would play.

I want a WW2 tank game, based entirely around the crew of one Panther tank. It would be great. The first mission would be about rolling through Poland and the middle would be Russia, and the end would be retreating through the streets of Berlin. It'll never get made though, as nobody would want to play as the evil losers.
Panther tanks weren't around until much later in the war, I beleive you mean Panzer. Tank games have been done before, but a new one could work if done right

It is definitely played out. Cod 3 took up the whole France part of the war in a terrible game. Russia was gone from Cod 2 but persists to be in every game with a mention of World War and Japan was the only one left till Cod WaW. I haven't mentioned Medal of Honour because the games are all in the same place at the same time and with the same generic characters. There are so many WW2 games when I was 6 I knew nearly all the guns The americans and Germans used, and I'm well on my way towards the Japanese/Russian guns. Modern warfare 1/2 and Tom Clancy games have go the right idea and are leaving Nazi land in pursuit of warfare that is fresh. Futuristic games are only hanging on because they can create a parrallel time-line and Turning Point proved you can't do that with WW2. To quote Zero Punctuation "I think the americans are so hell-bent on making WW2 games is because it was the last war they did anything good in"

We need a game based on the africa campaign, THEN it's played out.

Preferably an RTS where you play as Erwin Rommel. Also needs to include a time challenge about the ghost division.

While WW2 has been done to death, there is still room to do something interesting with it.

Example: Instead of the run of the mill historical look, put some freaky supernatural spin to it. I want a WW2 game that lets me kill demon-nazis.

Or like several others have said: from the perspective of a German infantryman. Although an RTS about tanks commanders would be pretty sweet...

Or we can just to hell with it all and move on to Vietnam or the first Gulf War. Let's spend a few hundred games pounding those two down.
