Unfortunately we're just the brother to one of the worst cities in America. The house I first lived in? A 2 minute walk from said city. OUR city is just find and dandy but in comparison most people put all their amazing efforts towards that city to try and make it look better. Because of that we're pretty boring.

Amusingly the german version of the page doesn't contain the controversy part.

Welwyn Garden City has little to be famous for except Shredded Wheat, but they fucked off and now there's a factory with giant silos with listed status cluttering up the middle of the town.

They could at least turn it into a giant laser-tag zone - that would be awesome...

Read the subject! Is your hometown known for anything or did something kinda cool happen thats worth sharing? Like a historical event, somebody well known getting born there, etc.

Just a random thread, the most embarassing thing about your hometown thread got me curious.
Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympics...

Teignmouth, Muse are from here (and went to the same secondary school, 5 years before me). Layla Jade...pornstar.. . The guy who invented the first working computer (before it's time, I think), a film director, an EA CEO came from here (also went to the same secondary school a few years before me), they're the ones I know of, we're a weird town so there may be more xD

The heavy metal band Norma Jean was formed in my hometown of Douglasville, Georgia. That's all I've got though. If I lived in Atlanta I could write an essay. (Invention of Coca-Cola, MLK's birthplace, Sherman's march, etc.)

My city is the "Chair City of the World." We're known for having been the largest manufacturer of furniture there ever was, however most of that production is gone now.
