As for me, where I was born is famous for having the bejesus bombed out of it by the Germans in World War II, and it's also the the home of Jaguar (the car, not the cat). The town I live in now is famous for being home to the world's first ever iron bridge (it's called Ironbridge, fancy that...) and the town got its name from Thomas Telford, a prominent engineer and architect.
