It's a redundant statement... because "fun" is doing something that you like.

Iiiiii dunno. There are a few people, even on this website, who really do not seem to like having fun. Or who don't like other people having fun.

Otherwise, how will we know? We could get that person a birthday cake with a stripper in it, and they would say "I like to have fun, but not this fun". And wow. That would be a waste. I mean, strippers don't come cheap, especially when you need to ask them to hide in a birthday cake for upwards of four hours. The last two needed to be resuscitated, even.
Maybe we shouldn't have left the cake in the sun.

My Youtube persona is one where I only speak when I have something positive to say, or in positive opposition to (I.E. Arguing/debating something that isn't political or religious).

My Escapist persona is a little bit like my real life persona, in that I typically talk about nothing except stuff I like with the rare exception of me talking about something else every once in a while.

I only ever use these two websites, otherwise I don't talk much at all.

This is really the only sight where I'm really active...well, when it comes to commenting and using forums and whatnot. I'll comment on youtube posts but I'm still me on youtube...and Destructoid...and Screwattack. I think on Facebook I come across as more of a suicidal, manic-depressive and on omegle I'm a 15-f-us...I don't use Omegle unless I'm surrounded by friends who are in on the joke (and wearing unicorn masks).

Look up "yellowcellphone" or "theyellowcellphone" and you'll get quite a few of my accounts on other sites. YouTube, Battle.net, Origin, Steam, or whatever else. I did go by the persona Tofu Bacon until I retreated back into this alias, and sometimes I use a different wording of this username for certain accounts I don't want people I know snoping through.

On tumblr, aside from my art blog, I always type in all-lowercase and I don't go back to correct typos. My persona there isn't much different from the one I use here. It's just lazier and more open to keyboard smashes during certain situations.

My twitter persona is closest to how I am in real life, but that's mostly due to the nature of twitter and how often I tweet in general.

On other forums I tend to be more sarcastic than I am on here, for reasons I do not know yet. I have no idea why I answer more seriously on these forums as opposed to others.

On a few select forums I adopt a more feminine persona just because I feel more comfortable doing so there. I have no problem admitting this on other forums, and when I mention it I usually get the question "Are you trans". I'm not, but for some reason I just feel more at home on certain sites presenting a more feminine aura.

I think the Escapist taught me how to be proper online and to be respectful of other people's opinions, and that has since carried over from site to site.

Unless we're talking about Youtube. I love being a sarcastic asshole on there. And the best part about making incredibly stupid and sarcastic comments are the completely serious replies I get from people that can't develop a sense of humor. It's good fun messing with those types of people.

Other than that, I'm pretty much the same.

I try not to deviate from who I am; however, this site is the only one I use my real name. I usually go by a different user name but I'm no different under that moniker.

I just realised, while sarcastically trolling the ignorant on Youtube, that I'm much more of an arsehole on there than I am on here. I know there's an element of not wanting to get modded here, but it's also because I generally have more respect for the users here; even people I've argued with in the past I still generally consider to be fairly amicable...nice, even.

On Youtube though, I'm just a dick to people because there is no sense in trying to have a rational discussion and people are guaranteed to over-react. I remember once someone was just putting up paragraphs of hateful abuse to people and, just out of curiosity, I started replying to his comments with either 'lol wut' or 'no u' and he just kept hitting me with these long-winded --but poorly written-- insults, over and over again.

On Deviant Art, I pretty much go full fanboy whenever I'm commenting on the work of someone I respect, and I usually end up just deleting comments because I feel like I'd be wasting their time asking questions they probably get asked all the time.

And on Mangafox...Well, despite having been a member of their forums for just as long on the Escapist, I only have about 90 posts there because it's just too depressing: I honestly don't care whether Sakura or Hinata is a better match for Naruto, and there's only so many times I can read a 'this manga is dead to me!' thread (literally, there is a new one every week for Naruto).

Youtube and how I act on the Escapist are probably the closest to how I am in real life, because I'll generally only speak if I have an opinion on something and would like a discussion or if I think someone is being an abrasive dickhead and needs to be told so (I get punched in the face less than you'd expect).

TL;DR: Do you conduct yourself the same way on every part of the internet? How similar is it to how you conduct yourself in real life?

More or less, while Susan Arendt made her dislike of me/it fairly obvious at one point, I tend to act more or less the same way on most forums, and I use the handle "Therumancer" just about everywhere which has actually generated a small amount of E-fame (or infamy if you prefer) if not a huge amount. I've carefully considered and developed how I do things over more than a decade now despite how it might look.

Honestly I've been considering retiring as Therumancer though. I might very well do so next time I change ISPs or if I wind up moving. I'm getting a lot older, and don't have the energy or optimism behind it that I once did. Originally the idea was to remain polite, not mince words, and try and go places where most people wouldn't, regardless of the reactions I got and who I offended (without ever flaming anyone), mostly in regards to the fandoms (video games,
movies, comics, etc...). It's been a pretty good run, and I'll still doubtlessly be around a while, but in the scope of things I don't think it will be too long before I vanish. Of course I'll probably still be around, just not so obviously, and a lot quieter, and without it being particularly easy for anyone including site admins to tell who I am. If I leave it, I'm going to really leave it. Those who know my real name (which isn't a huge secret) of course will figure it out pretty easily.

As in life I'm a different person depending on who I'm talking to and the audience I'm saying it to. Which is why I find it completely idiotic when Google or Facebook want me to link all my accounts and tell everyone what I'm doing, where and when. I don't talk to my friends of 15 years in the same way I talk to my mother so why would I want them all to hear both sides of that?

Hell, even on THIS site my persona may vary based upon topic. I tend to be completely honest on here, which judging from the things people take time out of their busy day to quote me on and reply to makes me come off as some or all of the following:

But on other sites such as Facebook I'm very much the version of me that I present to my family and friends. Most of them don't know the real me, or would even understand 10% of the topics we discuss on this site. I occasionally post something that is of keen interest to me on my wall, and generally no one gives a shit. I'm okay with that, because I all I get from them is whatever George Takei is posting, or some article about LGBT rights, or a ton of meme pictures for the most part.

The only other site I post stuff on, though I frequent several regularly, is the PWI forum. It obviously has a really narrow focus of topics based upon the game, and I watch my language and am actually downright bubbly at times.

Because that is who my character is and who my friends know me as.

Here, I can say pretty much anything I want. I can use whatever colorful language I want to within reason, and as long as I don't attack someone personally I can continue to enjoy that freedom. Not that I would, I think trolling/flaming to be inexcusable wastes of time. Actively antagonizing a stranger for your own amusement, rather than just having a differing opinion and getting on with your life strikes me truly pathetic. I mean I understand that people joke around, and thats different. I'm talking about REALLY going after someone. Which gets you banned obviously.

Which is part of the reason I'm so PG on that other forum. Getting banned there might get me banned from the game I've played for 4 years lol

I'm kind of different on most other sites and IRL. I try to keep a little bit about myself (what comes to my mind) but I say it in a slightly different way for each community/person I'm talking to. Here I'm a bit more drawn out and less comical, yet more thoughtful and grammatically correct.

I usually like to be concise, because if I let myself actually think about something for too long I will keep going on and on about random things I string together.

Strings are okay, kind of like slinkys but less fun. More useful than slinkys though. My slinkys broke, though. You know what else is broken? My sink.

I try to portray myself as similarly to real life as possible, however, having the extra thinking time before I speak means I can come up with better responses, seeing as I'm not good on the spot. That'd be great, if I wasn't terrible at wording myself and not that witty anyway.
