So Japan has works aimed at children like Hello Kitty and several shonen series? Ready the flamethrowers, boys, we've got some burning to do!

Seriously, if you're heavily opposed to censorship, works you perceive as low-quality and bizarre porn aren't exactly a logical point to turn around at. Also, anyone who's dismissing all anime or manga has most likely only seen/read a few crappy things.

I can soght of see what you mean but you have to remember two things some what we see in japanese is hugely exagerated, blown out of proportion and broght out of context. yes they have some crazy kink and slightly silly aspects to there culture but without the japanese we wouldnt have so much awsome stuff like alot the game cnsoles and games rely on japanese soft/hardware. in japan there developing frikken androids robot that look and act like humans they will probably abuse it up by imedietly making robot whores and help make machinary rule the universe. but they could also help many things like they could officialy stop people dieing in wars just get them to kit out robots with state of the art weaponry and hand every nerd a controler to control there personal robot on the battle field to destroy the opoents androids controlled by recently promoted nerds (or maybe thats just me).

anyway i think ive strayed away from the point but my point is. yes japan is filled with lots of weird crap that shouldnt be let loose anywere further than there own country. but again without the japanese stuff the crap included we would be a seriously less advanced we wouldnt have tetris (tetris is japanese right)and japan being weird isnt anything new its been quite well known for a while what im saying is japan as a country being weird can be said simularly for other countries we just have to be greatful that there only weird not homosidel. but i think ive gotten away from the point of this forum so yeah.....................................................TETRIS IS AWSOME!!!!.......................

I understand you don't like "garbage". But you essentially just took an entire sub-culture and decided that it was all shit and totally worthless just because it wasn't too your taste. Then you went on to say that perhaps this culture may not even have to right to exist. I understand that some of what comes out of Japan isn't too everyone's taste. And some of it is probably crap. But all just because you don't find something particularly entertaining doesn't mean you can say that it shouldn't exist or should be censored.

And the whole "It rots your mind" part you brought up sounds alot like when people thought rock and roll was "the Devil's music". Hell what about now-a-days? There are people out there that think playing video games will turn you into a violent sociopath thirsting for blood.

You see manga/anime as worthless. Other people find it entertaining. I find that many parts of different religions delude their followers ways of seeing the world. You don't see me making a thread saying "Should all religions be banned because I personally see them as worthless?". And before you quote me saying "Well you just stated your opinion about religion. How is that any different than me?" I'll just say that yes I do have some negative views on certain religious practices, but I don't go around asking people if we should ban them. I live and let live.

And how is manga not part of the culture? That's like saying that any animation made by Disney isn't part of the American culture. Or that books aren't part of any culture. Anything created by a culture like that is part of the culture. It represents what things are important to that culture and the artist during the time it was created.

Religion should be banned. Believing in a higher power can be a good thing, but most religions and/or preachers manipulate those believes to get benefits. I say go beliefs and die religion.

How is that any different than me?" I'll just say that yes I do have some negative views on certain religious practices, but I don't go around asking people if we should ban them. And how is manga not part of the culture? That's like saying that any animation made by Disney isn't part of the American culture. Or that books aren't part of any culture. Anything created by a culture like that is part of the culture. It represents what things are important to that culture and the artist during the time it was created.

I said "Usually" but look at some of the effects "religion" has had over time, the Crusades, terrorism, witch hunts, Scientology, etc.

Religion is different from faith, it IS forcing opinions on others, even if it's indirect most of the time (through manipulation). I know a lot of religious zealots and they try to convert people, that's forcing one's opinion on others.

It can also be a good thing, but that's rare.
