Oh, and to answer my own riddle, here's my guesses:

(Left to right)
Nu Gundam (Char's Counterattack)
Double Zeta Gundam, (Gundam ZZ)
Zeta Gundam (Gundam Z)
RX-78 Gundam (Mobile Suit Gundam)
F91 Gundam (Gundam F91)
NT-1 Gundam "Alex" (Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket)
GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes" (Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory)

No cheating, now!
you sir scare the hell out of me being able to name any of those but i also envy your knowledge of gundam im only half way through all of the different series of gundam shows

as for the guy hes Japanese and they tend to do some strange things once in a while and for all we know this guy may have been depressed before this with his gundam collection being the straw that broke the camels back you could say

Remember that massacre in Akibahara or whatever last summer? It was done by another 20 something factory worker Otaku. Just pointing it out.

The sweet delicious irony being that pretty much all the Gundam shows have anti-war/anti-violence themes.

Some people need to wake up and realize that if all your problems are not having physical objects that life has been good to you.

This is just like that kid that killed himself over an ipod.

On the bright side he may finally lose his virginity in jail. On the bad side he will lose his virginity in jail against his will to a lifer named E. Honda in the shower room.
Ba da dumb tish

Edit:
I assume that anyone who lives at home with mom at 29 and obsesses over expensive toy models probably doesn't go dating or have enough money to how can I say it... enjoy a very refreshing massage at a nearby whorehouse parlor.

At least that's my excuse.

Dear lord, you know this is why japan should have guns.(sarcasm!)

Also 29 and that into his toys and living with mom? Come on now, although now i wish to play your "Super Arson Setting Master Ectasy" game... You think they can make it a series?
Japan's culture is quite different. Since the country suffers from overpopulation it is not uncommon for families to live in the same household. Also had these models been limited editions or collectors editions that value would be much much higher. I do agree that suicide is a bit brash, but the guy does have good reason to be angry or even depressed.

The guy thought he lost some serious bank, I think this was an insurance fraud to try and claim the models got burnt in the fire and he got caught so he's like "suicide attempt".

I'll say this, I do understand him a bit. If someone destroyed all my art I'd probably have a nervous break down since I've devoted a lot of my life to it but I can't see killing someone. I mean yeah I could kill someone, virtually you know with a virtual machine gun but a person? Only if circumstances were there...like a robber.

I can understand his pain. The guy is a 29 year old factory worker who lives with his mom. I doubt he has much else besides his gundam figures. I blame his mom. She must have had some idea how important those figures were to her son before she threw them out.
I think I can sort of understand why he did it. As Jeronus said this guy didn't have much going for him and became obsessed about the Gundam Models. when I was 10 my Grandfather and parents gave me a lot of model kits, and they got me a Gundam kit for Christmas one year. I spent all of the Christmas holiday trying to put it together.

Awhile after I completed it my mom threw it away and I was furious considering it was only a cheap kit. Now this man had a full set of probably expensive kits and it consumed his entire life.

you are thinking too much like a resident from the united states, you have to take into consideration 2 things

1.- Japan in the MECA of young siucides
2.- they dont care that much about the "monetary" value of things as much as the "sentimental" value.

Fair enough, but I'm not American.

I can understand. Japan can be a very stressful country to live in due to modern culture over there. Lots of people crack, and I can sort of think of every Japanese person as a walking time bomb.
