This is perhaps the best article I've read here.

Really hope the Gundam stays up. That's something I have on my list of things I need to see before I die.

And yes John. Eastern mechs are vastly superior to Western mechs. More stylish too.

You guys do know that once they build the Gurren Lagann we're screwed, right?

But seriously, as has been said repeatedly this is awesome! If only I could go see it myself...
Gurren Lagann can only be powered by the man with the greatest amount of manly spirit in the world so there's always a chance they won't be able to make it work. And also, we're lucky in the fact that that man is me. :D

Not completely, only the head moves and the exhaust smoke spills through the chest vents. I think the arm and torso move as well but it doesn't walk.
Last I heard they were having trouble working out how to get a bipedal model working without overbalancing/overweight issues crushing the ground it walked on. They were looking into a quadruped version. Perhaps something less along the lines of a Gundam and moer of a Mobile Armour, or an Armored Core [http://media.photobucket.com/image/armored%20core/ngeekhiong4/TMD_ArmoredCore_04.jpg] (though I don't have a source for that. I remember reading it years ago, so technology might have changed to make such an assertion obsolete).

For kicks and giggles, how much a real Gundam would cost to make. [http://kotaku.com/343557/the-price-of-making-a-real-gundam]

Agreed on the part about eastern mechs, though; most western mechs (though I'm mostly thinking 40k) bore me.

This story would be so much cooler if the mech in question was an Imperator Titan.

Just saying.
Japan gotta have the Tau dude.

Unfortunately, they don't build giant robot's (finger's crossed for yet), here's the closest thing, a lifesize version of this floating above a city would be awesome.

Stiiiiiill waiting on my Deathscythe Japan. Still waiting...here's a template

*snip*

Like that, only big. Like, Statue of Liberty big. Failing that, Loran Cehack's gundam is pretty cool looking...

That's not Loran Cehack's (Turn-A), that's Kira Yamato's Strike Freedom Gundam.

Oh crap yeah you're right, sorry about that.

Fine, I'll just scuttle back to my GW then...

Tallgeese II has always looked pretty damn majestic:

If he gets his hands on any Mecha we'll all be forced to play Sega Saturn till our fingers bleed through the bone or die!

Here are the other Gundams that I'd like to see built same as the Classic Gundam cuz I know they made a scale model Zeta Gundam but not as epic;

So those are the Gundams but what about some Titans or Zeon Mobile Suits

Oh my god The O is the gundam with the extra penis arm. I used to play as him all the time on a old gundam game for playstation.

Well yeah, it wasn't from Macross ;)

Quite a lot of it is meant to be silly. Games Workshop are very silly people.

They do have a life size bronze cast Space Marine at their HQ. He appears to be guarding a shrubbery at the moment. (I walk past Warhammer World every day)

Oh, nice.

They should fight each other, then [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90196-Blizzard-Unveils-12-Foot-Orc-Statue-at-Irvine-HQ].

Well if the result of nuking a country is that they become some of the coolest people on the planet (which the japanese are) then I say NUKE EVERYONE! Then maybe the world can get on with less fighting and more building of giant anime charcaters. It would be a much better place.

Ok on refelction we might end up like the Easter Islanders... with people from the future discovering our starving corpses next to decaying giant robot statues... but it would be worth it.

I trump your Imperator Titan with Psyco Gundam MK. II

I'd shit my pants if they made a life sized Sazabi, one of the most bad ass looking "real mecha's" ever.

It would be cool if they did some life sized super robots too. Seeing a life sized Big O or Gurren Lagann would be pretty sick.
Sazabi is way sexy. Have you seen Sinanju yet? It's based off of Sazabi.

Something this cool should be made to stand tall through the ages, so that in the distant future after humanity has all but wiped itself out in nuclear war and our distant descendants (after rebuilding) unearth the remains in an archeological dig they can label it as one of the gods that their ancestors must have worshiped.
Label it? But it's true! Don't you pray to the almighty Gundam every night?

Oh wait... That's just me.

WARHOUND TITAN, GUNGRIFFON HI MACS, TIMBER WOLF, METAL GEAR REX,... there are many examples of cool mechs, japanese or western, you have to take into account the universe they sprung from, and whether the authors wanted something more cool or realistic, or both.

Warhound Titan- Western.
Gungriffon Hi Macs- Eastern, as far as I know. Not played whatever they're involved in, just going by where the developers are from.
Timber Wolf- Western (And Awesome. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8mOiRLQB6E])
Metal Gear REX- Eastern.

P.s. REX>RAY, and the Escapists agree at a 3:1 ratio

I don't even fucking life Gundam and I think this is awesome.

Although this may be my Frankenstein Complex talking, but I have the feeling this is like the "display model" like you see in electronic stores/warehouses, (Y'know, the ones with just the outside covering and no guts inside) and that there's a real one being developed right now.

And then I woke up. And played Armored Core again.

It's like the 1:1 going Merry from One piece, with Life sized statues of the crew. They need to get these thing together and make a theme park.

I really wanted to see it up close but never got the money together. I really want to try and see it when it's rebuilt and pick up some more model kits while I'm there too. I love building those things. Maybe if I'm lucky I could get some model kits not instores here in Australia.

The little Otakon in me, who still clings to the days of good Anime, squees with joy at this.
