Oh great, that's a perfect idea.
When it comes to life and destroys all the world, don't come crying to me!
Don't say I didn't warn you!

We'll just build a lifesize GaoGaiGar to kick it's ass.

This.
Why not a Warhammer or Timber Wolf (aka "Mad Cat" to you inner sphere barbarians)?

This story would be so much cooler if the mech in question was an Imperator Titan.

Just saying.
Japan gotta have the Tau dude.

Unfortunately, they don't build giant robot's (finger's crossed for yet), here's the closest thing, a lifesize version of this floating above a city would be awesome.

You know that model costs more than some cars, right?

The fact is that 40K does Graceful mechs better than any Gundam could, as well as shambling metal god-machine behemoths made of castles and GRIMDARKNESS. This is an Eldar Wraithlord, and you need to see one in motion to understand just how much prissy japanese metal ass it kicks. It makes those flying go-go dancers look like limbless sloths, all while being badass enough to go toe to toe with the shamelessly ponderous gun-emplacements that make up the rest of 40K's robotic warfare.

Sorry, my not-very-inner Fanboy demanded I defend the universe that goes so over the top it can lazily spit down onto your envious judgement.

And the model will fall to bits under it's own weight, even in resin. Bloody pointy eared gitz.

I'm sorry, I couldn't hear your slow ass over the sound of my quantum solar furnaces. You'll have to be faster to keep up next time.

Seriously, dude, you don't want to get into a "giant robot badass-off" with the Japanese. Even your precious 40k doesn't stand a chance :p

Could do with a scale, but by the looks of its 'shield'...is that an aircraft carrier on its arm?

While we're on the topic of Giant War Engines of Doom...

One of those little spiky bits at the very bottom? It's a bit larger than your run of the mill mecha.

And if anyone gets too close it emits a radiating blast of poisonous particles which corrode metal and kill people faster than most radiation.

Yes. In robot mode it's 300m long. (It also transforms, because transforming immediately increases the awesomeness of a giant robot by a factor of ten)

It's actually a tiddler as well, the standard Macross class vessels are four times the size (but not as nippy).

It's a Macross. Meaning that it's a giant space transport.

That happens to have a giant robot mode.

Anyway, to put to rest the argument, the supremacy of Japanese giant robot designs is forever assured by Diaclone no. 17 Battle Convoy.

Otherwise known as Optimus Prime.

(Designed, as with the rest of the Diaclone Car Robots range, which became the lion's share of the G1 Autobots, by Shoji Kawamori and Kazutaka Miyatake, who went on to create Macross)

AHAH! GET Hi-wait, doesnt count? awww, now I have to put back my pillaging bucket.

it was a good show anyways.

OT: why is Japan still teasing us, I bet anything that its a real working war machine. The only reason why they are showing it off is for us to think its only a statue, and then :boom: Zaku's everywhere.
I wouldn't worry too much until we see an underground hangar large enough for white base.

OT: Finding the gundam and thinking it was some kind of archaic god isn't that much of a stretch, given the huge, obsessive following Gundam has, and even though some later updates to the metaseries have outdone the original in terms of popularity at least, you gotta respect the original for starting it all. I guess that makes The original Gundam like Zeus or Odin.

I think Funk wants to play 'Crazy-Off' with 40K.

This is a universe where Orks clap their hands and believe robots to life.

Do you really want to ride this train?

The Orks just use a wussified version of Spiral Power, that's all.

Game.

Set.

Match.

Don't mind them, they're just all foolish freebirths.

(In before someone mentions The Unseen)

Neat statue, don't know why they wouldn't find a place to put it permanently though. Probably just to wrack up even more publicity.
