I'm disputing your claim that historical pop culture is just as stupid as today's is. It's all about what the consumers to aspire to be; do they want to be great thinkers or artisans, or people who care nothing for themselves or others and make inflammatory comments just to get attention? I would say that there's quite a difference in quality or morals between the two.

And then there was your point that pop culture has always been shit because the masses are all idiots. I resent that statement just because of what an apathetic and miserable person it paints you to be.

I do not think you are correct about that. Paprarazzi take photos of celebrity for profit without their consent, and the fact that none of the celebrities can do anything about it (and are even being stalked in many cases) is part of the issue.

That's because tabloids are legally considered newspapers and the photos are being used in "news stories".

In this case, she was in a privatly owned public area with no policies preventing photography. What's more she apparently posed for the photo.

Neither is relevant. I'm not just talking out of my ass here- anytime a member of the public is filmed or recorded to be put on TV or radio, the people doing the recording have to get them to sign a waiver allowing the footage to be shown on TV (unless it's part of a newscast). That's why they have to blur people's faces out on COPS.

LOL! Who told you that "everyone" was talking about high fashion, art, culture, politics, and etc. Masses are, and have always been the scum of the Earth. The only thing is, history books have ALWAYS excluded the coming and goings of the masses. It's only a very recent phenomenon when historians are gathering information about the masses.

Perhaps coming from your "the entire human race except for me is total shit" viewpoint. But you really just have to take a glance into any history book to see that other cultures have had far more sophistication and far more meaningful "popular" culture than we do today.
What's even the point in stating that today's pop culture is terrible if you can't provide any ideals or visualizations of any better one? It's easy to say "this is stupid." Give me a reason why or example that pop culture has always been terrible, other than "humans are stupid hurr."

Yes, and no. There is nothing inherently "meaningful" about anything. The meaning is given to it by the subject (hence the term "subjectivity")----and that's all there is to it. Remember this important law of the Universe I am more important than you. Why? Because anything I will known, will be through my eyes. There is no objective way to verify anything; everything is a perspective, even including this one. Anything you tell me is meaningful, is only meaningful to you, and no amount of defending will make it otherwise (for me). I resent the notion that people try to pass of their (or other) cultures as superior to others. Those are the people that don't deserve the light of day---holding opinions is only natural, in fact, there is nothing else we can do.
