Yes, let's ignore one of societies biggest past times, and remove any influence it has on games, because they're different.
Let's not call someone the Speilberg of video games, because he's a movie guy. His affect and contribution to the development of the medium isn't what people are talking about at all. They're saying that video games are below movies.
And yes it's true! No one has ever likened anything in a movie to another art form. No one ever says each frame is like a painting. No one ever likened the soundtrack of a film to Beethoven.
And of course! The start-middle-end structure of a story is completely ridiculous for games! I don't know why no one thought of this before! Video games shouldn't have a coherent plot! Because, you know, they're different from movies and books.
...
Video games are not movies. That is about the only thing you got right. Saying that a game selling itself on it's cinematic merit, is not evidence that people think films are better. It's them saying their game is kind of like a film. It's just another way to make a game. Like Fantasia is just another way to may a movie. It's basically just a long orchestral piece with pretty pictures.
Putting aside the fact that your argument is as flimsy as any other internet rant, we already have a library of intelligent videos addressing this in more detail. Why has the Escapist put this on here? You're basically a fan version of Movie Bob's Big Picture... and he's better at it than you.
No offence, but your niche is already filled. And you're kind of an idiot.
